Its been some time since we sent out a mailing from Mini Lab Help.com Let me say thank you for being a registered member. We continue to grow each month, and ae are now close to 5,000 registered members on the popular Mini Lab Help FORUM

We need funding. I will be blunt about this at the moment we get almost zero support or funding, although you will see me on the web site looking after things and doing updates almost on a daily basis, but this can not carry on forever, and I am asking you to consider doing a donation to help me keep Mini Lab Help.com open to all and FREE for all. I really do not want to charge users that visit the site.

As with previous forums, participation is the key and there will be plenty of opportunity to network and exchange ideas and experiences.

Final preparations for the PMA Retail Business Development Forum are under way and it promises to be an action packed day with experts and peers sharing their knowledge and experience.

And its going to be a very interactive day too.

The day starts with a two hour session Introduction to the Mary Portas Masterclass. You will have seen Marys programme on television, how she helps retailers understand what their business is all about and how to best present themselves. This first session on the Masterclass is entitled My Shop, My Future and will ask you to examine the vision you have for your store. You will be asked to think as a retailer selling entirely different products and ask yourself how you would go about getting that message across. Then apply that same thinking to your own store, with the help of the Masterclass, using a mixture of experience and specialisation and a third vital ingredient which you will learn about on the day.

Following the Masterclass we have a series of thought provoking short presentations from retailers and suppliers looking at new ideas and re-visiting old ones to bring them up to date.

The afternoon starts with a view of future trends presented by Anthony Norman of GfK. We all know of GfKs retail audits and market data. Here Anthony will look at trends in consumer purchases across the consumer field, looking at where photo fits in and how it compares with other consumer products. Knowing the trends will help you plan for the future.

FUJIFILM states anti-virus position - FUJIFILM UK has moved quickly to react to reports from Australia that suggest a customer's PC picked up a virus after using a photo kiosk in Brisbane.

The customer found a dubious file on a USB drive which was used to carry pictures to be developed at a 'Big W' store. Chris Pearce, Senior Technical Manager from FUJIFILM, reaffirmed the company's UK position: "FUJIFILM UK adopts security measures across the imaging systems sold within Britain to protect system integrity. Secure firewalls on the broadband connection, locked down desktop with multi-level password access along with other proprietary security measures are designed to reduce any impact on retail kiosks from potential unwanted attack."

He continued: "Protecting the imaging network from malicious attack is a key responsibility for any retailer to protect business continuity and prevent expensive downtime. We work closely with our UK retailers to ensure our systems are as safe as they possibly can be."

Multi-Finish Dry Labs - Photomart have announced the launch of two new Exan Dry Labs. The DNP print engines of the new Dry Labs will have the capacity to produce matte finish prints in addition to standard, glossy finish prints. Notably, there will also be no need to change the print media when switching from glossy to matte finish printing and vice versa. READ THE STORY IN FULL

Following a request from a Fujifilm Digital Imaging Service (FDIS) retailer in Wales, Fujifilm now offers a free translation service for any of the promotional posters that are provided to FDIS members.

Peter Wigington, Marketing Manager for Fujifilm Photo Imaging Group explains more: "We always try to listen to suggestions from our member retailers and we're delighted to be able to offer this service. In addition to the Welsh translation, we're hoping other FDIS stores will take up the offer and use foreign language posters to promote specific offers to their local communities." Fujifilm announces further dates for Dry Minilab tour

Following the continued success of the Frontier DL410 Dry Minilab road show events, Fujifilm has announced a further set of dates.
The tour re-starts at the Wellington Park Hotel in Belfast on 9th and 10th September, then moves to The Village Hotel in Coventry on 16th September. The Nottingham Hilton will host the event on 23rd September before the tour wraps-up on 30th September at the Stoke by Nayland Hotel in Suffolk. The event at Belfast is to be split into two parts, the first day (9th) is aimed at professional photographers and the Government market, this day is being held in association with Calumet.
The following day (10th) is targeted at the retail and pharmacy sector and is in association with Swains.

Each event will start at 12 noon and run until 9pm. Fujifilm representatives will be meeting pro lab and Government buyers from 12 to 4:30pm. Then from 5:30pm, up to the close at 9:00pm they will welcome independent retailers.
