Dave S
Yes the most likely problem is the CCFL tubes on the screen have worn out. It's not the easiest job to replace them. A computer shop that repairs laptop screens etc should be able to replace them.

Dave S
I've already said the CCFL tubes (like small florescent tubes) will most likely be worn out!If the tubes are black on the ends they will be worn out.The inverter will shut off the power to the light tubes after a few seconds if it detects a problem. If you look closely with screen turned on, you probably can see the screen is working but is not lit up.The other cause is a faulty inverter PCB. CAMERA HOUSE
Hi Dave S As you said it is very difficult to change CCFL. I went for easy option. Anyway in G4 which is inverter pcb? I have three G4s and four G3s. Iwould like to swap around inverter PCB, to make sure what is faulty CCFL or Inverter?
