PCChen
Hello all, Correct me if I post this on the wrong board. Could you please suggest any reliable source to buy a reconditioned Frontier SP-2500/3000 scanner? Fujifilm agent here don't sell the scanner alone, and the price tag for the package is outrageous. Thank you so much.
pepe21
Do you still do negatives? the reason why I ask because otherwise you can opt for an LPC.
PCChen
Do you still do negatives? the reason why I ask because otherwise you can opt for an LPC. Thank you for your reply~! Yes, I've switched to color negative because I need more latitude. I scanned my color slides with consumer grade Nikon and EPSON gears. What's the LPC you just mentioned? Thank you so much. Minilab service
pepe21 means if you don't want work with films you can use your minilab without scanner, using FMPC or MS01 software.

Thank you for your reply. Actually, I don't have minilab printer but want to buy the scanner only, plan to have it working in standalone mode without attach to any other device. I just don't understand why some of the popular dealers out there do not response to end-user like me, do they deal with big broker only? pepe21
So you do slides as well, I see..then a Pakon would not do you any good...they have some high end Epson scanners like the V700 you can do slides as well.

Thank you pepe21. I switched to 120 format recently so Pakon can't do the service for me. So far as for scanning slide, Nikon Coolscan can do a pretty decent job, even better than Fuji Frontier IMHO. And I have EPSON V750 pro too, for scanning color negative, it's a better performer than Nikon(in color rendition of course, not in resolution). But what I care most now is to have a Fuji Frontier SP-2500/3000(in good condition), and I just found it really requires many help to acquire this big beast. Where can I find one? ghn5ue
www.kimtech.ca has scanners. The SP2500 is commonly available and is a good high speed scanner, but there is no digital ice. You also need a stand alone computer running Fuji software to export the scans (DI Controller). Another option, although I have no experience with them, is the Durst Sigma scanners. I have heard they are very high quality, and the software is better than Fuji's.

I just took a glance at Durst Sigma scanner, it has Fuji Image Intelligence intergraded and a much better software interface, what a combination~! But since it has very limited user-space and tech support for an used one, I might have to skip it and stick to Fuji Frontier.
ghn5ue
PIC, Fuji DI or MS server will work with the scanner. You don't need firewire (that is for connectin to printer), it will connect through the network.

Hello all, Sorry for no response for a long time, I've contacted many dealers and finally arranged to buy one from Hong Kong. Really appreciate your help in this period. There's still a lot to be learned, along with Frontier's software evolving, more and more inconsistency between old/new manuals and terminology, especially since the release of MS01 Ver3.0 I am about to open other threads for further technical questions, please kindly provide your advices and I am willing to share what I learned too, thank you so much guys~!
