Frontier 340 -> Upgrading PC & Software

Hi Guys n gals,

My place runs Fuji 340 bought 2nd hand. We've been running setup ok as it is for a year now  - just concerned as well the software is quite old, running on Win2K. We need to upgrade so we can use newer OS & hardware. The software on the printer processor indicates version 4.0-0E-717i and the front end pc is 4.5-0E-612.

I can't really get support from local Fuji agent as they own the largest chain and we are small independent lab.

What software/hardware do you think we can upgrade to? I don't need the latest and greatest just something that will run on newer hardware... any input/help much appreciated...

You can not upgrade easily.  The software , hardware and operating system are designed to work as a unit.  If you search the forum you will find several posts of people who upgraded the computer in the Frontier 340. As far as I know, windows 2000 is the only operating system that can be used.

Like ghn5ue stated, You can not upgrade the PC and software. There is a way to get a different PC working in the Frontier if your current one ever fails but that one would also need to run on windows 2000 and the Frontier software you are using.

It is also not easy to get a different PC running with the software as it's meant to run on only the toshiba PC in the Frontier.

pepe21 is right. I suggest upgrading FRONTEND computer to MS software. That will really be a kick. The Printer's computer is not used anymore as negative films are disapearing, so the only computer and software that is really put on work is FRONTEND.

Thanks for the input guys. Well I am mainly concerned with front-end computer, Its starting to have glitches (blue screens now and then)  that is why I want to upgrade the PC.

So from what you guys are saying I just need to install this MS software for FRONTEND and the printer computer should still be compatible?

Really do appreciate the feedback!
