Hi everybody, i am going to change the ball bearings in the subscan unit Frontier 390 bcause of stripes on prints. In the manual an special tool is described called "feeler gauge" to adjust specific parts while reassembling. Remark is 0,03 mm. You will find that in 13.3.27 "Nip Releasing mechanism reassmebly/bearing clearence adjustment"

I dont have such a tool, does anybody know, if ii is really necessary to use this or can i do it without that in an acceptable way?

Thanks for any Information

Feeler gauges are used extensively in the motor industry, for setting up plug gaps, tappet clearances etc. Just go to your local car parts centre and buy a set.

I have about 3 sets sitting in my toolbox, usefull things to have, especially when setting the plug and magneto gaps on my lawn mower
