Christina Rose
Hi, Can it be the FE software set up with the Frontier 350/370/390 series? yes..its. but about frontier 390 i am not sure. - Why C4/C5 stucks when using it under XP enviroment? C4-C5 designed to works with windows NT and windows 2000.I think present C4-C5 MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) version dont support windows XP. - Does anybody know to use a particular printer .icc profile automatically from C4/C5 when loading the orders? according to my knowledge there is no such option for select different printer profile.. - Why the loaded orders from C8 do not consider the Master colour values set up in the C4/C5 menu? I think C4-c5 act like only a print server when using with C8.so the C4-C5 master balance will not affect C8 orders. - Is there any .ini file on C4/C5 folders to hold every order comming from C8 software? yes...it will be in C8spool directory. regards, Baiju
JAVI
Thank you Baiju, Therefore, do you know what is the .ini file we must change in order to hold the orders from C8 software? One more question: We use very much the Free Export JPG service from SP-2000 and SP-2500 to C4/C5. As you may know, after saving the orders to the destination folder, the name of the images does not match the DX code of the frames, which is a big problem for me sometimes... Anybody knows how to fix that? Regards, Javier
Christina Rose
Hi, is it not possible to hold the orders using HOLD button? second issue i also face many times especially with Sp1500/ SP2000 scanners. i also tried many things like film carrier sensor caliberation, cleaning the Dx code sensors, reinstall OS and softwares etc...but no luck. so finally i told them to batch rename. regards, baiju
ghn5ue
Fe software was never available in Canada, we went from C4/C5 to the new MS01 which is based on the USA's PIC software. I suspect Baiju is the only one who has had some experience with all of them. How do they compare from a reliability standpoint? I am tired of the usual problems with C4/C5 and want to upgrade to something better, especially something that allows cropping while printing, and not through that clumsy Variety Print add on. MS01 would fit the bill, except we run a Frontier 370 (with FMPC) as well as a Frontier 330, and there is now way to use the 330 as an output device in MS01. Silly, since you can set up MS01 to work with various ink jet and dye sub printers! So I think that leaves FE software as my only option, and since it was never sold by Fuji Canada, I guess I will have to search the world for a used or new English copy. Christina Rose
hi, its so pitty that FE not available in canada. fuji policies varies in regions/countries. ASIA and middleeast PIC version not available. even i heard about PIC only thru forums.. but FE is far better than C4-c5. because it support windows XP ( everybody want XP), cropping is possible and lot of new image quality enhansments..but little bit slow in operation compare to c4-C5. MS also nice software. but if i say frank very easy to crash. still upgraded versions are going to be release.hope that will be stable with upcoming verion 2.5. but apart from all concern print quality, MS is out standing ( superb). FE possible to install on DI if the SP scanner running with system disk 7.7. i hope concern ur requirements, thats enough. just try urself and if things not seems good then reload C4-C5. ( i mean no need to change the entire sytem to FE. just DI only.) regards, Baiju.
ghn5ue
Thanks Baiju! I am going to see if I can find an English set of FE disks, or see if Fuji Canada would be willing to bring in a software set for me. Ken
mwalford
Why C4/C5 stucks when using it under XP enviroment? C4-C5 designed to works with windows NT and windows 2000.I think present C4-C5 MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) version dont support windows XP. You can of course use SQL2005 and get super fast database speeds to fix all speed issues when using C4/C5 in Windows XP. http://fujitech.net.nz/support
mwalford
- Does anybody know to use a particular printer .icc profile automatically from C4/C5 when loading the orders? according to my knowledge there is no such option for select different printer profile.. I have got some .icc profiles for the Frontier paper that you can use in Photoshop for the sRGB colourspace. I will post them at http://fujitech.net.nz/support

surviving
i'm interested to know how to instal FE as client
manager
I saw the instructions for installing c4 c5 on XP: lots and lots of software to install and configure. I kind of lack the courage to do it because it doesn't seem safeproof and I can't keep the print job still too much. So, did any of you install c4 c5 on XPl and how is it performing? If you did, then, why would you not go back to 2000, what are the advantages under XP, also what goes wrong?
Christina Rose
i dont think there is lot of advantages over windows Xp and windows 2000 when the PC as using as a DI server. Only the problem i have noticed that when using latest motheroards, there is poor driver support for windows 2000. but apart from C4-C5, FE will support windows XP and possible to adjust crop for each frame. regards.... manager
You are right with moterboard support. I have just bought a state of the art computer for DI and had very hard time installing win 2000. Succedeed after buying an ATA 80GB drive(a rarity today) and getting the latest BIOS(which released just when i was going to give up).
