manager
I had a few SFA248's and all of them started having problems with the zoom after some time even if they weren't in the same location. I figured it is a common problem of these SFA248 zooms. They go down easy but don't manage to lift up getting stuck on the way sometimes. This leads to damage to the plastic wheels that transmit the motion from the two little motors, focus decalibration and lots of error messages. I think it has something to do with the zoom not being oiled enough plus their inappropriate build. Does any of you know this pain? I don't have that SFA's anymore but the answer could help other owners and I also am curious what was the cause.
MasterLaser
Take out zoom lens and go to someone who is familiar in lens cleaning. After cleaning ( and plastic gear replacement) you will have to adjust focus. Just as lead, ask Nikon or Canon technicians for repairment. I did it couple of times before in good old analouge times....
