Kodak G4 Order Station Fan Noise

Recommended Posts

Those of you who have G4 order stations...  Do the fans inside your order station sound like they are on full blast all the time?  Or are they generally more quiet like a small computer tower?  My G4's fans sound like they are on full blast all the time and I was curious if this is normal?

We have 6 G4 units and 2 of them are screamers! One day, I'll pull them apart and have a look at the fan with a view to replacing them with something quieter.

I'm sure the fans are just normal PC 2" fans.

At the moment they are are at the front of the store, and I'm at the back, so I don't notice them!!!!

There is a fan cooling the SCM/IO card located at the right hand side of the Kiosk. This fan can produce noise. If the fans of the CPU are running full speed all the time there must be something wrong with the mother board. There is a BIOS setting in the advanced tab (fan acoustics) but it does't change much. Normal operation is: After restart the PC the fans are starting high speed and speeding down after a few seconds.

It looks like it's not coming from the PC section of the order station, its coming from the top half (specifically from the right side where the yellow vents on the side are).  It sounds like it may be this SCM/IO card you are referring to.  Any idea if I can do anything to quiet down the noise on that?

Thanks!

Surely you have 8807Y11 lenovo model, which usually have that problem. Is solved very easily ...

Remove the CPU kiosk, open the lid and the team is motherborad a pin to reset the bios. Before removing the bios battery. After changing the position of the jumper switch on the CPU front button for 5 seconds and then shutdown. Replace everything as before (jumper and bios battery) ready to assemble everything and ... problem solved!

greetings MAK12 ;)

The fan noise is the power supply fan which is controlled differently depending on what model you have, you cannot remove the fan as it is part of the power supply and the bios setting will only be relevant to the lower unit and will not affect this. I think the noise is there to stay unless you fit another power supply, if available that is.

Hope this helps :)
