sintar
I currently own a G3 kiosk with version 5.2 . Tried to contact the local representative for the version 2 software. They told me I have to upgrade the kiosk to the new version G4. They no longer sell the older versions. Do you know where I can locate the software? Thank you for your help. Trevor brown
Version 2 Software would require you to have a DVD RW drive in the G3 Kiosk also suggest you upgrade the ram
Dave S
That's not strictly true. The software for the G3 and G4 is the same up to V2.2. After that it is for the G4 only. You will need a V2.1 initialization CD, then you can load V2.1 software from a USB drive. It is recommended that you upgrade the RAM for V2 otherwise it will be very slow. Trevor brown
Version 2 and 2,2 when loaded are looking for a DVD drive as the option to produce dvd's is now on the software, having had 4G3'S and had to go through these upgrades we found it quite easy. Version 2 works fine ( been running one for 2 years with this software) version 2.2 causes the kiosk to lock and crash quite frequently and depending on the processor will not always load. Kodak ceased supporting the G3's when the software went above version 1.7 because of the DVD element in the new software and the capacity of the G3's to cope with all the extra elements being loaded. sintar
Thank you for your help with the different software versions. Currently, I already upgraded the memory to max out the motherboard. Think the cpu is 3.0ghz dual core. Installing a dvdrw is not a problem. Do you know where I can get the software? Looked on the internet but could not find the software only the newest version from kodak.
Dave S
Version 2 and 2,2 when loaded are looking for a DVD drive as the option to produce dvd's is now on the software. I've seen loads of G3's with V2.2 software and just a CD writer and no issues with looking for a DVD drive! Are you sure that the DVD writing was not on an optional disk? Trevor brown
Version 2 and above offers the option to write to DVD both with music in a slide show and save all files. that was one of the major upgrades. A DVD drive was about £20 when I upgraded. These versions of software slowed the Kiosk down even when upgraded to 3G of Ram. As i said we had 4 running in one shop, have disposed of 3 due to them being just to slow , we even encounter problems with the G4 and GS when customer arrive with large quantities from 12mp cameras and the RAM has been increased in all our machines. Even the G4X is giving concern for speed across the world. The one G3 we have is linked to our wet lab and a 6800 printer running on V2 with some options disabled it is very slow The optional disc was the enabler together with the music, the base software still had all the info on it

blusther
No need for DVD drive. Dave S is right, you need the initial CD from version 1.5 and higher and you can load the version from USB thumbdrive.
