Anthy
Hello, I have a Kodak G3 kiosk standalone connected to a 6800 printer. Everything worked fine, but from one day to another the machine starts printing very slow. For example, it produces 2 prints 10x15cm and then it stops printing for about 30 seconds and sometimes more until the next 2 prints are coming out. And so on... Please can someone point me into the right direction to locate the problem. Is it a printer- or a G3-problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Mr Noritsu
Could it be large files slowing the old G3 down? Have you added extra memory to the G3? Not sure what else it could be, and there is not much you can do with the software on a G3.
Anthy
There is 1 GB RAM in the G3. And until a few days ago everything works fine. Could it be a printer issue?
Mr Noritsu
we have retired our G3's to the back shed, but from memory, we were running 2gb of RAM in ours, and it made quite a difference. Not sure what would cause the printer to run slower - but I've retired most of our 6800 printers as well.
pskaro
Try changing the memory, maybe one is not working correctly ?
Trevor brown
Put 3GB ram in the G3 plus a new DVD drive , then instal software version 2.0 plus the new printer firmware and it will run fine
pskaro
Also check the HDD for errors (check disk) and defragment it (all partiotions)
aussiecameras
You'll be amazed how well these G3's work after you do what everybody has suggested. We have 4 G4's but the G3's hold their own for many printing jobs and are still an essential part of the store.
Anthy
Thank you all for your suggestions. I will check the memory and if necessary replace and upgrade it. And also look after the HDD. I'll let you know.
blusther
I just remember a failure of a G3. The cooling fan for CPU was not working and slowed the speed completely down. Check that fan.
Anthy
Hello blusther, I just looked at the fan, but this is not the problem. Thanks anyway for your help.
Anthy
I tried to defrag the drive, but it works only for D and E drive. If I'm trying to defrag the C drive a message pops up saying check disk is scheduled. Any help would be fine. Thanks in advance.
Trevor brown
That means next time you switch the kiosk on it will check the C drive.
Anthy
Thank you for the explanation, but I still don't know how to defrag drive C.
Trevor brown
can you get into the service diagnostics and if so use clean sweep
Anthy
Yes, I know how to enter service diagnostics and I already used clean sweep. I did not realise its them same as defrag. Thank you.
Anthy
After I installed 2.0 GB of Kingston RAM the machine is working pretty fast. Thanks to all of you.
