Receipt Printer not found G3

Recommended Posts

Recently installed software version PM 5.0 onto two of my G3s (up from V1.5).  If I recall correctly the receipt printer had no prior issues before the upgrade, but since the upgrade - when it is going through its startup checklist, there is a long pause on searching for Receipt printer, until eventually it is not found.  Under information its labeled as COM.  Solutions?  Thanks!

@drconservative

Under Ports (COM & LPT) within the device manager I have the following:

-Communications Port (COM1)

-Communications Port (COM2)

-ECP Printer Port (LPT1)

-Lava Quattro PCI Port A (COM6)

-Lava Quattro PCI Port B (COM5)

-Lava Quattro PCI Port C (COM9)

-Lava Quattro PCI Port D (COM8)

In addition when I go to switch one of those to COM3.  It has COM3 labeled as "in use" - granted I'm not sure what is using it.  That aside, which of the four should I attempt to change to COM3 and should there even be four listed?

If you installed V5 after running V1.5 then you have gone backwards. V5 is OLD software and 1.5 is MUCH newer. V2 is available to download from the Kodak website, along with various patches.

@Mr Noritsu

Thanks for setting me straight on the version order.  I came across the kpk v2.0 sp1.1 software, so I went ahead and installed that.

@drconservative

Changing the Port C to COM3 did the trick.  It now is able to find the receipt printer during the checklist.  Again the only thing I wonder is why COM3 was listed as "(in use)" and what might have been using it.  I guess I'll address that if something else comes up as not working.

Thank you both!
