snappylad
I would like some help to solve an ongoing problem I have with my QSS-3701. This machine is super, its fast and reliable HOWEVER it just cannot print whites, wedding dresses, studio backgrounds, skys are always blown out, they look bleached out with no detail at all, this machine can not handle whites! I am in control of the process I send control strips twice a week to my chemical supplier and adjust rep rates, temps etc as necessary. They are happy with the chemistry. I use Kodak royal digital paper and I'm sure I have the profiles set correctly. I regularly clean the calibration plate in the colourimeter unit. I have tried everything and I'm loosing business as some of my regular pros aren't happy with the whites/detail in dresses etc. Its driving me crazy, it might take half an hour printing a few prints, constantly playing with density, contrast and even back to photoshop to try and get things near to acceptable. I'm using EZ Controller version 3.00.063. I'd appreciate any advice or help you may have.

snappylad
Do you think the software update is all that I need? Anyone have a version 5 about them? I'm interested if the price is sensible. Can you run version 5 with windows vista? I'm going to build a new high-end PC for the 37 aswell. Thanks magenta for your advice, I'd like to hear from anyone whos had the same experience still.
Magenta
Contact Noritsu, Version 5 and the updated profile should be FOC in the UK. Upgrading the PC may not give any improvement in operation, and I would be careful about using another operating system. a modern quad processor may help vista fly but your QSS software will not take advantage of any extra cores as the software will not recognise them. If you have not already changed your colourimeter patch I would do so as that can cause the problems you mention, but version 5 will solve 80%??? snappylad
Thanks for your advice Magenta that all seems sensible thinking. Ive just ordered a new calibration plate, however I'm just wondering if this will come with the data needed for the colorimiter or is it just a 'plug and play' job. I've been offered this to help solve the problem - "I can offer you the new EZ controller Software for US$ 300. Or you can buy the complete set ( EZ controller + Printer Profile N 3.0 + Colorimeter Calibration Plate with Data) for US$ 750" does this seem expensive? Magenta
If you want to pay $750 for what you would get free, yes The plate is around £140 and will come with a CD

Mr Noritsu
This answer came from another forum. Have you unchecked the two check boxes at the bottom of the screen in Easy Controller when you open the files? The check boxes say "Digital Camera Correction" & "Others". If they are checked, they are adding contrast and sharpening.
Guest
The latest version of EZ Controller is 5.0.111 and for QSS printer is Ver. 11.00 and the profile is N 3.0. which is compatibleto windows Vista.
snappylad
Just to update, I went into each print channel and under image quality setting I deselected the check box for digital auto image correction. This seems to have made a visible difference. Hopefully when I update the profile and ez controller version the prints will be satisfactory. Thanks for the help MR Noritsu and everyone who posted. MCphotolab
In the new software version, under paper specification/registration, there is a new option called highlite balance adjustment as well as the old black balance adjustment. You will be very pleased with the results once you run highlite adjustement
magnafoto
Thanks, I'll let you know once I update the software - it should happen after the weekend. What paper do you use? It seems to me, that Fujifilm CA gives me better results than Kodak Supra Endura VC on the

inspired2
I wonder if anybody had problems with running Highlite balance adj. test, because our 3701 can't perform it!!! It says error 01029 - problem in colorimeter, but colorimeter is OK! I need a hint what to do next? May initial setup help?
