Dave S
This can be caused by a faulty AOM driver, the Laser control PCB, of a fault with the actual laser unit. Check all the connections around the laser unit are good.

globaltech
you can also reseat the connection on the printer control pcb. since you have other machine to try, try swapping the printer control pcb. good luck!

Dave S
You said you have tested the image processing PCB on another machine and it works well, so you can eliminate that. Have you checked all the voltages are correct for the laser? It could be a power supply problem. Next thing I would try is swapping the AOM drivers. Then the Laser control PCB (including the 3 clock PCB's) Then the laser I/O PCB. Then the Laser Driver PCB's. The last item to swap is the is laser itself. I have read reports that this problem can be caused by a faulty red laser.
