Can I keep my 3001 scanner but loose lab?

Our 3001 is well used and still doing well but there are many fine newer labs available, - but none with a 120 film scanner that is as good !

Question ?????

Is there any way to take apart my 3001 and just keep the R2D2 scanner unit + PC, and sell off the remainder for parts/laser/magazines etc, and maybe buy a dry lab or alternative ?

We still do a lot of film work, - especially 120, - and while new labs are much better value, - film scanning is an expensive optional extra, - especially 120 .....

My Noritsu technician says no because the pc is so embedded in the wet section that he couldn't think of a workaround, - but he did say that there are many better PC experts than himself .....

What do you think ?

I have no much idea about concern machine. but sounds scanner somuch integrated with Printer. how does scanner connected with PC? thru USB or IEEE?

Projects like this are fun! I don't know the size of the boards, but if they are typical, you will have a hell of a job getting them into some sort of case. And then booting up, with so many 'lost' sensors, you are going to need someone who knows that little lot inside and out. Good luck.

But I can understand where you are coming from, scanner technology seems to be going in one direction, speed, at the expense of quality. I have been looking for a replacement for my Epson 750, can find quite a few faster, but none better for quality (that I can afford), unless someone knows better?

Film Scanner of QSS 3001 can not work as a stand alone. It is connected through Optical fibre cables and LVDS. So it is useless and can not work with other QSS models.

I have seen Noritsu have stand alone scanner stations like S-900.

so better you sell your machine. then buy a good stand alone film scanner which can scan 135, 120/220, aps, 4x5, 6x7 etc. at an afforable price....

S-600 and S-1100 are stand alone scanner andcan handle 135/APS and 120 negas. but these are bit expensive. but you can rely on its quality scanning system which are much better than other earlier scanners of Noritsu.

The S2 scanner as used on the QSS32,34 etc has been replaced with the HS1800 and LS1100 these are both stand alone scanners that plug into any PC via USB

The LS1800 will scan all neg sizes including 120 with the appropriate neg masks. The 1100 is 135/240 only. Both use LED light sources so lamp changing is a thing of the past.
