Noritsu 3300 Scanner Fault?

Recommended Posts

3month old lab down with (?) scanner fault.  Techie unsure if he's isolated the problem which is - three mini parallel score lines running across the horizontal side of all size prints - 4x6 to 8x12.  Total width of the 3 about a millimetre.  Only problem previous day was a jammed APS in the neg carrier - probably unrelated.  Same day did lots more digital prints than usual. Checked paper cannisters for banding.  Nup.  Full clean and check of any moving parts for dust, chemical build up, etc.....which leaves the scanner......If anyone has experienced similar problem would really appreciate some feedback.   :(Not a good week all round.  Finally lost our biggest commercial customer to self printing digital  :(

Do the lines seem to show 3 colors (red, green and blue or at least multi colored fringing). Are they totally straight or a little wavy? We have this occasionally on our 3001 and its a bit of dust in the neg carrier causing, what we call "scanner lines". Do you have any other neg carriers (120 or slide?). Is your carrier a 135/aps unit? If so, does it happen on 135 and aps? If not, its possibly the dust thing.

We have blown air all over our carrier sometimes and it still remains. Eventually it will go but the dust can be microscopic and still cause the problem

Nope, no colours or wavy lines.  First check was the neg carrier.  They are not light, which indicates dust blocking out the lens, or dark which indicates dirt and gunk somewhere.  Theses line are dead straight and in sunken relief, like the visual effect art/graphic work you can do just like on this graphically formatted forum to make them sit out from the page or sink in.  These lines are colourless and sink in.

Yahooo!!! All resolved and back on deck.  Took a major replacement part flown some 2,000 ks up the coast and then 2.5 hrs drive back down the coast which in the end wasn't needed.  Some feedback for future site reference.  Problem occurred in the paper advance unit.  Gap between some roller and deck too wide and allowing the paper to hestitate too long causing banding.  You know, if any of you have little kids, you may appreciate the similarity of the stress factor these machines give you when they get sick!!! :P
