Print Volumes

We are seeing good growth in order numbers but overall print volume has only risen a bit. We're seeing far more 1-2 print orders (which is OK because we charge accordingly) but not so much of the big 600+ ones like we had a few years back.

Every now and then a photo shop closes and that helps out a bit. Just need the likes to Tesco to stop using discount photos as a way to get punters in. Thanks Tesco (and HP)

Well put Trevor. Interesting to see Asda seems to be slowly getting out of photo entirely.

Volumes are steady for us. Hoping for a good Christmas as we have lots of customers that seem to wait till last minute before getting all their years pictures printed. Happens every December - fingers crossed for this year too  ;)

Sorry, but where is your evidence for that please? ASDA heavily invested in photo kiosks, and supply a good line of photo gift items.

I saw my local Tescos take away their lab about 3-4 years ago, the area was given over to magazines, then after a refit it is mobile phones.

Mind you they never seemed to be going a great job with it when they did.  They put the desk in between the fags/lottery and customer service. I asked hen once for a tarriff of their services and they looked at me like I had come from space.

A local Sainsbury's ( a big one) had a brainwave and moved the photo section from teh front of teh store near the tills, al teh way to the back of the store. You wouldn't know it was there, anyone would think they deliberatley wanted it to fail.

You know what, my local Tesco has a HP kiosk , and I swear I have never seen anyone using it. Given it's positioning in the store - at the end of the checkouts, and between the customer service and the newspapers, I am not surprised.

If you can do 1-2 prints but also pull them in on photo gifts, etc, then you will be offering more than the supermarket, plus a better level of customer service, one hopes.

I'm not sure if Kiosks are included or not, and I believe this figure is only in the United States not North America including Canada and Mexico, but I've read print volumes declined roughly 50% (inkjet/dryprint included) from 2007 to late 2011.

I need to find the article of "Picture Business" to see if I can find other years, more specific information, but, overall volume is only going down.  If it is picking up at your business you are the exception that is testing the rule.

XXLtd,

Those 2 guys you replied to have just copied bits of other posts from this (and other) threads.

I would just ignore them.

There's a pattern with their user name.... see it ??

Scroll UP and see the original posts they copied.

Now click KiethStAuRK's user name, and click the posts they've made.  In 1 day he/she/it did the same thing in several other threads.
