Sad Loss for Leeds

Very sad. That seemed to be a very busy store and they were always active in marketing and promotion. A loss for Leeds - and the industry. Seems to be quite a few Snappy Snaps stores shutting. Not sure whether its the leases coming to an end or just unsustainability. Can't imagine that site on the Headrow would have been cheap to run.

There are quite a few yellow shopfronts around London that clearly used to be Snappy Snaps shops too. They pull the signs down - but it's still clear they used to have a lab there - some even have the shop fittings. Agree, I wonder where all their 'support' people are to help these folk out. Not a good look for Snappy Snaps - or the industry.

I think they still have a few shops in Birmingham and also one in Chester but certainly getting much thinner on the ground. You are right - a refresh is definitely needed. I'm sure some are still running with the counters and shelves put in over 20 years ago when the industry was in its prime  ;)

I remember back in the late 1980's Snappy Snaps being very much a new thing, and that their presentation being fresh and clean. I also recall visiting them because they had a colour copier, WOW!, a colour photocopier!. I actually travelled all the way from my college in Hounslow to Chiswick to use it.

I think in thier defence Snappy Snaps are still trying, recently I noticed that they had put up bus stop poster ads to get people into their stores for passport photos. They were using an image of a child with what appeared to be Elton John star glasses on, to promote the fact that they could do kids passport pictures - which I thought was ill advised, but it achieved it's purpose I guess.

Bristol, York, Worcester, Edinburgh, Sunderland. Perhaps no one wants to spend any money outside of London? It is sad to see those shops going though. Snappy Snaps have been good for the industry and always kept prices up there. No it seems they just need some direction.

I remember those colour copiers well. They were mostly Canon and had a nasty trick with the prints sticking to the acetate drum. I'm sure 50% of production ended up as wastage. Cool concept at the time though!
