TeriW
Ours was late but good. I actually think every one forgot christmas till the last minute....kinda sneaking up on people. It just meant we worked harder in a shorter time period. By Xmas eve at about 2pm, myself and my staff wanted to curl up in a ball and cry...We didn't and we managed - even though we had major electrical problems that fried some equipment we got though it. After Christmas my hard drive on my pc fried - thank goodness for back up - never the less i am still trying to find stuff that i had easy access to - programs are still being loaded on my pc. I thought it was a good idea to upgrade from xp to windows 7 - in hindsight i should have stayed with xp - my fax machine won't work now, so am trying to work around that.... then while i was busy with a customer some low life thief managed to steal my mobile phone - i had stupidly left it on my counter top (hidden, but obviously not hidden enough) You know, just about to make a quick call and a customer came in the store so i quickly put it down where i was standing with it - gone.....all my birthdays, all my appointments, all my everything just about. so any profits i have made has been spent on equipment.. Anyway there is a positive already this year - so far i have won $2.75 (two dollars seventy five cents) on lottery. things are looking up!!! Yay!!!! Great that trade picked up later in December, will be intresting to see if other had the same. the reports here in the UK do indicate a late, but very good Christmas for retail.. noritsuvet
Great Christmas - especially the last two weeks. We thought it may have died off on Christmas Eve but ended up having our best day on the 24th! Low interest in camera hardware but prints, gifts and canvases were off the scale Sold out of many of the Adventa instant photo gifts, Kenro wood frames and some small albums. In all, up on Christmas '09 so very happy.

cecilh
Great Christmas, prints, gifts, canvases and calendars (someone bought 250). Swains had great camera and phone deals so we stuck to their lines that could compete with the internet. Thanks to Kodak Express we were big on their specials. They put a flyer in with our only weekly newspaper (10,500) and we sold every printer and Kodak M550 camera bundles we could get. The bundle had the camera, a 4gb card and case @ £90 with Amazon selling the camera on it's own @ £95. As the printers were on TV they all went. We got in 31 the Monday before Christmas and they were gone on Wednesday. Thank you Kodak! Had we put out the flyer in the paper ourselves it would have cost almost £2000 including printing so that's quite good value for an anual licience fee of £1000. To any independants out there I has suggest you consider KEX. As for the VAT rise - who cares about a 2.13% rise! We will put extra on non sensative items in Feb or March. As long as your price still ends in 99p the public think the price has not gone up
nash
i know i`m a bit late to respond to this thread, but i was down by 2.5% from last christmas. So overall not too bad at all as last year was my best christmas
