What is going to be big this Christmas?

Same here, have done my first few 'big' christmas card orders and have lots of enquiries on canvas's and will start our 3 for 2 offer at the beginning of November which always goes well. We've also stocked up on a few more 'gift' lines of frames. We're thinking of running a promotion along the lines of 'buy a frame and get the print for free' - has anyone done anything similar? Did it work? Also stocked up on mugs and mousemats which are by far the best selling photogift items at Christmas.

the, free 8x10 in slected 8x10 frames in store always goes well for us - i do a budget combo too, which includes a budge 8x10 frame and an 8x10 enlargement for under $20.00 - this is a good for people on a budget!

the mugs are 3 for 2 at christmas / mothers day and fathers day.  I am giving the 3 for 2 canvas for the first time this year.  my wallet stuffers started mid october.  I have other businesses in our local happy to put my adverts on their counter tops.

Seeing some Christmas orders which is really good. Seems customers are thinking about this early this year.

I have to say that offering a free enlargement with frame seems like a good idea, but in reality its just giving away heaps of profit that we've waited all year from. Up till Christmas 2008 we offered this and it was popular. During 2009 we had a consultant look at our business and that was one of the promotions we dropped. Last Christmas we sold more frames, plus had a couple of thousand pounds extra in the till from enlargement sales to boot.

Canvas is my pick this Christmas.

Free prints sounded a good idea at the time, now we need every penny we can get in the till. Interesting, we had those same suggestions too.

Photo gifts are going well for us, especially the Adventa ones from Swains. Selling the Christmas cards from that range (had a few left over from last year we just put out this week). I think that folk will be looking for cheap and personal gifts this Christmas. All this talk of austerity measures and job cuts will be putting the fright up people  :-/

Trying to decide whether to promote the printed Christmas cards this year (not much success in past years) or just focus on the slip in types. we've a much better selection of these than ever before and already sold lots but wondered whether there is any mileage left in the printed one here in the UK? What is everyone else finding?
