Big Dave
What's your budget ?? What thickness card stock ?? A lot of good printers max out at 80#Cover. Most can't handle that thickness unless you do 1 side at a time.
Guest
HP Indigo can solve your need.

Trevor brown
Is it Table Top upto A$ or d you want a A3 Size Printer. Oki are great upto A$ and will do 220grm. We use the DL2100 from Kodak (A oki C760 I think with duplex) and I have had 280grm through it. Prior to that we used a Oki c3300 which would take 330grm but had to manually do double sided.. Canons CLC series where good to A3 but have a problem with heavy stock.

Trevor brown
Try this link http://www.printerland.co.uk/OKI-C710n-P6002.aspx Oki C710cdtn This machine is the UK version of the Kodak DL2100 a lot cheaper and uses UK consumbles not US type as the DL2100 does we have the DL2100 linked as a Postscript Printer networked to a Mac together with USB to the APEX and my PC The Postscript print quality is spot on
Teds
The Xerox Phaser series is brilliant, takes 300gsm and uses solid ink technology, about £
Christina Rose
HP indigo very expensive.
Big Dave
We had the Phaser 8500 and while it was able to handle the heavier weight papers, the image quality was lacking, plus you couldn't write on the ink (we make notepads). Granted it's a old model with a small footprint. The new phaser 8650s are nice, but I'm going toner based. We've since moved to a toner based HP and the image quality is very good, but the machine has "issues". It can barely handle 80# cover (216gsm), and the front/back registration is poor BUT it can take 11x17" no problem. Floorstanding, not desktop model. With the economy the way it is, check out your local paper store and get a "printer trade magazine" to see if there are any local printers closing or selling used equipment. If you have the space look for a finisher and a cutter.
Trevor brown
We use the OKi based machine (DL2100) through the APEX for cards and photo books quality is not great (KOdak Software Causes the problem) it is also networked to out Mac as a proof printer for our Printing.com franchise and quality is stunning Screen to output spot on and colours match to customers orders for Flyers, leaflets ect. Would buy Oki direct next time though
nash
so we`ve narrowed it down to OKI or Xerox which would be better for greeting cards double sided printing
Teds
Suggest you send a test image to a company like printerland they will send you sample prints back to compare. Send them some card stock and they will print onto that for you. I preferred Xerox, but there are plus and minuses to both systems.
Big Dave
You could also call the reps from those companies and ask for a "demonstration", or sample prints. The Xerox rep in my area is MORE than happy to come by with samples, documentation, etc....
