Trevor brown
The Post Office in our small town is currently having a new Kiosk Unit /Photo Booth installed linked via internet for Bio - metric passports
philspectrum
My understanding is that the program has been stopped, but I suspect that the pilot trials will already have been organised, so maybe cannot be stopped. If there is no requirement it is probably no threat! Do you think they will compete with your personal £6.99 service? I think not! The civic centre opposite spectrum imaging did similar trials 2 years ago, but it was only to practice and learn the procedure. Don't worry. IMHO phil
noritsuvet
We are in the city and have been offering some profitable 'value added' services with our passports like headshots for Facebook and recently, people have been wanting shots for their LinkedIn pages. A great upsell we hadn't tapped into and it was thanks to a suggestion from Sally at First Retail we did this.

Teds
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/contact/contactspage/post-office-biometric-enrolment/ It seems to be currently for Foreign Nationals needing uk visas, as the Sterri system is done with the UK Border Agency and not the Identity and Passport Agency. Its been on trial around the country for some time but they seem to be installing in more Post Offices now. Not a test program anymore? UK Passports next? Trevor brown
Defnitely not trialing it for Foreign Nationals in Louth, I can count them on one Hand.
noritsuvet
Tony, we have a small sign at our counter and another one right in front of people getting their passport photos done offering profile photos (and we mention Facebook/linked in) for a small extra charge. Because of where we are located it works well as everyone is conscious of looking professional, but I am sure it would be popular elsewhere too. Nice extra cash-flow and as they say - every little helps
Big Dave
noritsuvet, that's a very good idea. How much is a "small extra charge" ??
kioskguy
We have done the same after they suggested it to us too. £8.50 extra for a couple of posed head shots on CD seems to be good price point. Only thing we did was to add another flash to improve our lighting however that also helped our passport quality
