fujilab
Ajla, if you are a member of Kodak or Fuji programs they will have those resources available. Otherwise have a look at the the other marketing systems available. We used to spend ages on the creative side of things until we realised that didn't make us any money
AJLA
No this is the problem isn't it. I'm usually ok with the ideas but unfortunately not actually doing them, lickily I have someone working for me who is a bit of a whizz on photoshop. Fujilab was it you who mentioned a marketing programme in the past? I seem to recall someone mentioning a company from New Zealand or somewhere. Ithink the marketing is a must but as you have mentioned it's just the time spent on it .
fujilab
Ajla, PM me and I will send you the details. They have just produced a new module and internet fulfilment system for instant photo gifts too, so that could help if you are keen to grow that market. SpeediColor
I think the marketing program you are referring to from New Zealand is First Retail which is by the same company who runs the 'Photo Plus' chain of photographic stores in NZ. Heres the site: http://www.firstretail.co.nz/the%20Photo%20and%20Imaging%20Marketing%20Program.htm Hope this helps

AJLA
Think i've gone mad fujilab, you have sent me these details already and it is the company i was thinking of. My dad has had a few lengthy chats with them. It appears there are a few of you using them too? Clearly you would not suggest them if you were not entirely satisfied. fujilab
Yes, they are really good. The marketing program works well and they are always helpful with ideas and support. I will suggest they get in touch with you.
AJLA
So for example at the moment I want to create aposter with various batteries on offer. Would they help to create it or do they just provide seasonal artwork?
fujilab
The programme has a promotion for each month in the year plus one for all the seasonal times like mothers and fathers day, valentines, easter and christmas. it doesn't seem to cover retail product like batteries. We have asked them to make up one-off ones - like for our local market days which they have done no charge.
AJLA
Hmm it is mainly ideas with one offs that I struggle with ie I want to say NEW STOCK but without me making the poster look cheapalso for any other items I may want to put out on a weekly offer so I suppose it is too much to ask. fujilab
We used to do one off promotions but found the time taken and actual return was not worth it. Since we have been working to a structured plan I don't find myself wasting energy phaffing about on photoshop and the large format printer any longer. Looking back I'd spend ages coming up with ideas, then fine tuning them, but was never happy with the result. If you have the time and talent, go for it, otherwise I would suggest getting back behind the counter because that will make all the difference to sales. snpysnps
I have the First Retail programme too and had the same need for one off ideas we come up with. They made us a template that we use the same fonts and colours with then print on the lab or wide format. Fujilab mentioned the marketing plan which is good. Will save you energy worrying about what to do to keep promoting.

cecilh
Hi AJLA, I thoroughly recommend you sign up for the First Retail Marketing Program. I used to spend a lot of time making in-store point of sale which was very time consuming. The program includes a wealth of promotions which are supplied in high resolution for you to print on your large format printer. As we're a member, we can send First Retail a brief and they'll design a very professional graphic for us with a quick turnaround time. This ensures that all our marketing material is consistent in terms of font etc which I think is important. I totally agree with Fujilab that it allows us to spend more time behind the counter doing what we do best. The other valuable factor in my opinion is that as a member you've got contact/advice from experts in the market who are monitoring trends and have excellent contacts within the industry. For example, if you were thinking of investing in a new kiosk then you'd get some very constructive advice. All the best. Ben
