philspectrum
If we cannot fix up out Polaroid DMP systems then we need to replace. I really like the convenience of a 1 box solution, - so we don't have to take cards out, load up photoshop OR kiosk software, or tie up out minilab just to do one photo. What comments on the Sony system UPXC300EX, - or predecessors UPX-C21 (one on ebay) What about the Fuji IP-10 system ? Having read the long thread about grey backgrounds - always easy with Polariod what do you advise ? We do maybe 10 to 30 id photos per day. recommendations please ... ASAP Thanks Phil
nash
i use mitsubishi ID system with media cost down to .16p each i`ve been very happy with this unit
AJLA
Mitsubishi too. It's been quite good although a bit awkward to hold sometines particulary when your dangling it over a 7 day old baby. Downside to it is our wire which we are about to replace after it being repaired by Mitsu about a year ago. For some reason it constantly twists and splits inside. Have you not had this problem nash? Having said this should I need to replace it I would probably get the same again as it's not been a bad system and it's difficult when you can't actuall get your hands on another to physically try it out. Not unless you fancy trekking around to visit lots of nice photoshop owners who'll let you have a play
andrea
sony is brill. we are on our 4th generation.we do about 50 a day.
philspectrum
Just wondering why you are on 4th gen sony system, did you wear out previous, did they break ? Do Sony do an extended warrentee - swap out return etc ? What are Sony or Mitz systems like for 2x2 USA, and other internationals ? Thanks for your time, my Polaroid system has been with us over 10 years though swap upgraded in that time, and there are no trade shows now to try/evaluate. Media costs are secondary to quality, ease of use, and reliability. Phil
RogerM
We gave up on repairing our Polaroids eventually (had 3 and swapped/repaired them constantly) Now we are using the Fuji IP-10 and so far are very pleased over the last 2 months. However we changed the camera supplied to their smallest bridge the s1000, gives better quality and some more control.
Trevor brown
Why not use a Digi camera and your Mini-Lab we have for 8 years upgraded the camera every 3-4 years
Jvc1986
We use a standard digital camera (Fujifilm Finepix F50) to take the pictures, and print them out on Kodak Picture Maker, done that since we started with passport/ID, just replaced the camera when it broke down or stolen:(
Colopt
Standard digital camera also. Really doesn't take long, once you have the setup nailed. I use the dye-sub printer if they are in a hurry, otherwise through the lab, for better quality print.
Rowe
We use digital camera as well. Noritsu does good pasports and give 5 minute to client to find something else. Normaly they pick up something in this 5 minute. Easy money they are in store allready. Rowe 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
philspectrum
Got my Polaroid DMP fixed by a guy in Netherland - address posted on separate thread, - and it is FANTASTIC to have it back. I hate using a digi camera and putting through lab or kiosk - just too many fiddly steps, I don't want to interupt what's printing on the lab just to put a single photo through, and I don't want to chat to my customer for 5 min while we wait for the print.. Polaroid - Frame, Click, Show, Print. by the time I've collected my 6.99 print is ready to cut and give back. I never want to use the lab if I can possibly help it, - and don't understand how any busy lab can .... The 34p media v 3p is purely acedemic, (5 min work for 31p saving is bad logic) - it's an easy quality job I want. Phil

cecilh
After our old Canon passport camera broke (3mp), we spent a day trying all sorts of cameras including a Canon SLR with various defusers to get rid if shadows. Eventually I found a small GE G2 camera with the flash directly above the lens and very close when held in the portrait position. The photos are perfaect and no shadows. Steven Deverill
What happens next year when biometrics come in? all the equipment and techniques we have all developed will be useless. in the meantime my post office have put in a booth supplied by the post office so I am expecting a big downturn in business regardless of biometrics. donsopp
we use the sony system, it takes at most 2 mins from picture to finished photo. It does american, canadian and just about every other spec and can do a 10x15cm. Use frame 5 set to our own spec for UK/Ireland and frame 2 for US. Print to Sony x34 for UK, print to Sony X46 paper for US. Can also do husband/wife on one print using x46 paper. Don't know what biometrics will mean. Background -- we go a local blind maker to give us a plain light grey blind.
AJLA
Can't beleive it, after saying how good my little Mitsu system was I had to order a new printer. Still it was only 250 pound so can't grumble too much
