AJLA
Until recently I have been buying 24" Fujihunt canvas from Tudor as the prices were great and I like the canvas quality. The rest of my paper is sourced elswhere. Any suggestions of a reasonable priced canvas supplier?
Tony.T
One of our members supplies canvas at a very good price... Google 'Mandev' I buy from them along with anti UV lacquer.
Photographis
Ah, thanks Tony. I still have an un-opened roll but had been wondering myself. I think we know them, don't we AJLA?
Dave R
Try Swains. They have taken over the Fuji Canvas from Tudor along with a lot of other stuff. We have already ordered Fuji canvas from them.
AJLA
Never thought of Mandev, crazy when I buy my inks from them. Having a bit of a problem with Swains at the mo. My account was set up immediately and I have placed a couple of orders with them, unfortunately they didn't run too smoothly. I'm sure it must be difficult for them with such a large take over though. My main problem now is that I am unable to view the online catalogue, they have tried to sort it remotely also but so far nothing. I will persevere with it though. In the meantime I can't buy products from them or should I say I won't buy from them something I can't see. Desperately short of frames and albums now but luckily I am informed that Photologic will be doing a lot of the old Tudor stuff.
Nick
Breathing Color do good Canvas along with a good water based varnish that you can put on with a roller. Who are Photologic?
Photographis
(doh1) Of course, Swains. To much bleach..... Agree with you about breathing colour's varnish Nick, it's nice stuff, and a second or third coat will give you semi or full gloss. The only down side is the drying time, but I found if you use warm water to dilute, it dries that bit quicker.
Nick
Drying time of Glamour II varnish is a lot quicker than the Lyson solvent based varnish I used to use. We did have a few problems with that as it would take at least 24 hours to be dry enough to handle and 48 hours before you could pack it and know the bubble wrap was not going to stick to the wrap. With the Glamour II I know I can put two coats on the canvas before I wrap it and pack it, all in the same day at room temp.
