AJLA
Need to ask an embarassingly BLONDE question re VHS to DVD...A full vhs runs fo 180 mins..does this go onto x1 dvd. How do you know what the file size is going to be ?? I KNOW..... you can all start laughing now!!!!!!!
nash
you need to ask the customer the running time of the tape then you can play and record on either high quality, standard or long play. long playing time is just over 3 hours
AJLA
Do you offer people various qualities? Lets say playing time of 3 hrs on standard or high quality? Lot's of people haven't a clue as to the length of playing time so how can you give them a precise price until you've done it or do you think that for this reason it is better to charge per hour? AJLA
Just thought of something else..is there an intermediate cassette type thing that you can put inside a VHS cassete instead of having all the vaious camcorders and leads nash? Do you know I think I might of asked that question on here before but the brain cells are going.
nash
i never mention quality, but the cutomer will roughly give an idea on how is on the tape the mojority of vhs is no more than two hours camcorder tapes are usally no more than 1 hour if you was to play on high quality that will mean you`ll have to stand there watch and wait till the dvd fills up before you place the next one in, so you do`nt want to be doing that while you could be doing other things
Tony.T
you need to ask the customer the running time of the tape then you can play and record on either high quality, standard or long play. long playing time is just over 3 hours In fact I use a samsung home video/ dvd recorder complete with tv tuner and freeview- yes it's connected to my TV You can set the record time on the DVD recorder up to 8 hrs!!! How it works- put tape in m/c and rewind it if it isn't already. Eject tape and reinsert (this zeroes the tape counter which conveniently is in hours, minutes and seconds. Fast forward tape until the counter stops (which it does when it gets to end of the recording- not the end of the tape. Note the play time, adjust the recorder to the correct time. Rewind tape. When it has rewound play the tape until the recording starts. Then all I do is press the 'dub to DVD' button on the remote and put the kettle on/ pour another beer/ surf the net/ watch the telly on analogue/ go to bed- depending on ecording time. And that's it folks another £15 in the till, Kerching!

Do you know I think I might of asked that question on here before but the brain cells are going. you can buy a VHS lookalike inside of which you can put a VHS-C type camcorder tape. Otherwise it's a trip to e-bay to buy some cheap secondhand camcorders.

Tony.T
No-mines a samsung which I found in currys, tbh I bet they are all the same internally. Take a look in comet and currys, both have a lot of choice. The one in the link is a good price though.
philspectrum
I have been stupid for long enough ! I understand that all I need to get started is a single box that will copy VHS to DVD by pressing one button. QUESTION Is there a 'best' machine - hear lots about Panasonic or there is the Maplin above - both under 200# Marcus has sung the praises of a Sony DVD burner that does media cards and more, - with attached VHS / camcorder or what .... QUESTION Do you do top down menues and chaptering ? - I know that they can be done, - I believe that they are done AFTER the transfere, but BEFORE finalising / closing the DVD. Do I just pay my money, - or can I have a hot tip please ? Thanks Phil
