Whats hot for Christmas?

There has been some interesting posts about the popularity of digital frames. Along with these what is everyone finding 'hot' products this Christmas? I notice the chains are getting much more into novelty impulse type items they have near kiosks and at the counter. Still with some time before the busiest weeks we wanted to make sure we don't miss out on any opportunities. What is everyone else finding thats selling well?

The shot 2 go range of novelty items are selling well, Boots also sell them they have a whole display of it.

The biggest seller is the photo bauble and mini photo album.

The Photo Album Company Photo Calendar is also selling well.

We have done really well with the range of photo christmas cards from Design Design, but its too late to get these now for this xmas as they take 2-3 weeks delivery from USA.

The hottest camera, is a Christmas late comer to the market, its the New Sony T2, the design is so Apple. It also has 4gb of internal memory. Excellent colours and finish.

We have done really well with Shot2Go too. Initially we got 4 boxes of their calendars, sold them all and now into another 4 but thats it as suppliers sold out. Their little albums and key rings are also popular. On wood frames we're doing a 3 for 2 deal which is going well and photo books have just started to really move. Looks like it will be a good Christmas this year :)

In a word - PRINTS! We have been inundated with big orders recently. Seems like everyone is printing off all those stored up images at once. Not only standard sizes but lots of enlargements too. Good enquiries for canvas prints. I guess people will leave ordering these till the last minute. Nice to see all those print orders again. It will go a long way to making up for our lack of summer.

We have seen frame sales go up. Wish we had ordered some of the gift categories people are mentioning but at least photos are back in fashion :)

Our print volumes are certainly growing, and so is our film developing and printing (mostly due to so many other closures!), but this year looks like being a canvas Xmas - We have gone to local radio, and we have moved from 10-12 a week to 11 per day so far. Considering we are still 3 weeks away from the big day, it augurs well for a good Xmas and a very profitable one. I've worked out, that on avarage, we pay for the roll of canvas in the first 2 prints we do, and our ink use on the HP is so low, its almost a non event. Either way, its VERY profitable. Digital frames are picking up and we are just about to get our first shipment of Kodak frames to go with 20000 catalogues we are sending out, Will be interesting to see how it goes.

This time last year we were waiting for the rush which happened only a few weeks before Christmas. This year it's much earlier. This week has been very big with lots of large orders through the kiosks, lines waiting on kiosks and extra people needed just to manage the rush periods. This is great and hopefully it continues through the rest of December.
