Drive Imaging

Recommended Posts

I am considering installing Norton Ghost 10 on our 2901 to make drive image backups of the hard drive. Its getting quite old now and I'm worried about the hard drive dying. The only downside I can see is that installing ghost might cause problems in itself.  Maybe theres some drive imaging software I can use which doesn't need installing? Come to think of it, I think I can boot using the Ghost CD and perform a backup that way.

Has anyone else tried this?

I personally would do the HDD backup to CD/DVD using a Ghost 2003 DOS boot up floppy disk. You’re probably going to need about 7 CD’s though!

You can install Ghost 2003 on another PC to create the boot up floppy disk.

That way you are not installing any software onto the 2901 PC.

On Ghost 10 I think you have to have the program installed to restore the backed up image, which kind of defeats the object if the HDD dies!
