Went on Sunday, didn't see anything new really. Lots of kiosks and dye-sub printers. Lots of album manufacturers doing book-bound style albums. Apple had a nice stand demoing Aperture which looks promising.

There's quite a lot of amateur photographers there on the Sunday but not really during the rest of the week. I wouldn't say the show itself is an amateur show, most of the exhibitors are there for the pro market.

Hi Steve,

Dave from Bury, I went yesterday. I found it a worth while trip. Had a Look at the latest Noritsu labs and weighed up a few options on Kiosks. With us now having the Studio upstairs there was a lot of ideas for that side of the business too. Also have a look at leaches stand you should get some good ideas for your wide format printing.

Went to Focus yesterday, no reason to call it  "Amateur photographer show" as there was something for everyone, altho much downsizing from last year.

Printed samples from 5 different machines (4 kiosk one lab) and all that have compared have picked lab print as superior quality to kiosks. I didn't get to fastlab stand so can't comment on results from there, sorry Phil.

A couple of extracts from Nokia camera phone brochure I picked up;

"A Nokia camera phone may have a cool megapixel camera in place- but a digital camera it is not."

"There is a chance that what you end up shooting may be sharper than what you see on screen"  "Conversely, a seemingly perfect shot on the display screen could contain imperfections that are unmasked only on a bigger PC screen"

Confused??

We had some digital prints processed at a lab that has a fuji 340 lab near Winchester before we went to focus. took the same digital image to focus and had fast lab print them and found prints to be sharper on the fast lab machine (converted noritsu) colour was beter too.

But have to say that photo-me 1550DKS was as good as allways and beter colour as well . but at the cost of the fast lab machine being
