Alternatives to AGFA supplies/services

We're getting calls from numbers of worried AGFA minilab operators. At the mo' we're telling them not to worry, they wont be left in the lurch regarding supplies (somebody will step in). I know there's no problem with D-Lab chemistry, because Photomart has always sold fully AGFA D-Lab compatible paper chemistry from CPAC (jpg attached), but what about other supplies and services?

Photomart are going to step in and offer film chemistry for AGFA D-Lab by the end of November. What are other suppliers doing, how are all the gaps going to be filled, and by whom?

Any breaking news?

ahh a Blog ;)

Agfa Resources was established by PMA to provide quick information and sources for Agfa chemistry, paper, parts and service. All industry members are invited to provide contact information, dealer information and tips and tricks to keep their D-Labs running
Seems a bit strange that the PMA would use a freebie Blog ?

We'd be interested to see what strategies other Agfa D-labs around the world are using since last weeks announcement. At times like this its good to be able to share knowledge and ideas.

Luckily we have been able to stock up on the paper and chemistry so there is some breathing space to make a decision on future supply. One of the key benefits of Agfa product has been its competitive pricing so that will be a real factor in making a  decision for the future.

Most of the agreements in the Oceania region include material supply with the Agfa Finance so I would like to see how Agfa Geveart deal with this. As pointed out by their senior executives our agreements remain with Agfa Geveart - not AgfaPhoto.

Because our arrangements are with Agfa Geveart there will remain responsibilty for them to maintain service levels and spare parts stocks. We'd be keen to hear others perspectives as this will be an ongoing issue for Geveart - without the benefit of the consumable supplies to offset these costs.

So guys, what's happening out there?

  • 2 months later...

we now use all the fujihunt chems instead of agfa, very good and no problems so far!

Servicing wise, our "local" engineer who comes from Chippenham to us in devon is leaving, so closest is now Oxford or Birmingham - apparently the wages are rubbish from O&A or thats what i've heard......
