Ecojet P1 Error - R2 Super 1000

We have had an error on the screen of our R2 super 1000 for 4 days now and it won't print anything...it is constantly saying Please exchange P1 cartridge. It doesn't give me an alarm button or anything with an error code on, it is just a scrolling message at the top and bottom of the screen and a fixed message on the LCD screen.  I have tried reseting the misfed tablet count and correcting the amount of tablets it thinks it has. I have taken the shoot out and checked it and it seems to be fine! Have rebooted completely several times and the message still appears as soon as it restarts. It seems like a software glitch and I have looked to restore the data from last week but there is no data stored. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
