Algae In Water Tank With Dks 3

My DKS3 is not plumbed in, and I use the standard water tank, filling from plastic cannisters. There is algae forming in the water tank, and at the moment, it is trapped by the plastic inline filter. I´ve always cleaned the inline filter on a regular basis, but recently the algae is getting to the point where the filter is blocking quicker and causing changes to the water consumption and affecting the replenishment strength of the chemistry.

Has anyone tackled this? A couple of years ago, i flushed the system using an electric pump together with household bleach in the water tank, and got a significant reduction in the algae, but am interested to know if anyone else has done something different or solved this problem a different way.

Cheers

Ray
