HS -1800 is the only choice for you.
This scanner has a USB Twain compliant scanner so can be connected to any normal PC.
S2-S4 scanners have connection to the minilab via fibre optic and LVDS cables and can only work connected to a minilab.

S2 and S3 can run stand alone together with workstation and without minilab.

Good news indeed...

I like this forum....

I am here for a few years already but always open something new for me.

I think it is a good idea is to inform my customers about it who have S2 and S3 detached (they use their labs as PRO versions) and they will be able to sell it.

Good news indeed. How might I go about obtaining that software from you, Minilab?

S2 and S3 can run stand alone together with workstation and without minilab. To run you need to install S-900 software. I have it. If to use capacity booster type A it will be upgraded to S-1700.

If I buy a Noritsu S3 and I want to use with PC only, I need to get S900/S1700 software (I talked with minilablaser.com on email) and a Noritsu Control Station (CS-1 or CS-2 I think). Is there anyone have any particular info about these workstations? What's distinguishing them from an average PC? Are they have any special PCI cards inside them where they got the data feed from the scanner? Can I build such workstation myself (custom built PC with the needed PCI cards and software)?

The answer is no you cannot use a S2 or S3 scanner as a stand-alone scanner simply with just software.

An image processing PCB + D-ICE PCB etc have to also be used together with S900/S1700 software.

All of these circuit boards are contained in a CS-1. A CS-2 cannot be used as it does not have a image processing PCB or D-ICE PCB.
They are not simply PCI cards that plug inside a computer, there is much much more to it than that. The cost to do all this would not make it viable.

The easiest option is to buy a HS-1800 scanner together with the software.

I understand the S4 scanner can be converted to a HS-1800 scanner by changing some circuit boards etc.

Hi all, can anyone give me definite answer, is it possible to run S-2 scanner from Nortisu QSS 3300 system, as a standalone scanner, without running whole machine? Is it possible with those S1/S2 workstations from Noritsu? Also do anyone know what resolution I can achieve with S-2 scanner?

Thanks in advance for all the help.
