NortSur Posted July 24, 2014 Report Posted July 24, 2014 Hi, I just installed a new Tank board for the DKS3, does anybody knows how to repair it? The problem I had was that it seemed to loose voltage for the exposure deck. The motor that turn the belts began to make a very strange noise, like it struggled to move. Once changed with another Tank Board, problem solved. Thanks

pskaro Posted July 26, 2014 Report Posted July 26, 2014 There is one diode which burn out and cut the power on the expo deck motor, it is on paper transport PCB on DKS3, that is the information I heard from one colegue, but I did not have expiriance myself with that problem Give that PCB to some electronic repair shop, they should fix it easily

NortSur Posted July 28, 2014 Author Report Posted July 28, 2014 Hello PsKaro, that makes a lot of sense. It's the Issue I have. The motor of the Exposure plane is dead. I tried to feel the motor by hand and sense some that it's trying to move, but doesn't have the right amount of voltage I think. So I'm pretty sure it's a diode. I'll keep posted if I ever find out wich one. Panzer thanks for your concern but I checked freight to EU and it's so expensive sending it and return, not to mention your fees.
Wallie Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 Hey All, You must replace two power mosfet's on the paper transport pcb, however it's SMD assembled. It needs some experience with electronics to replace those because you can easily damage the board while de-soldering them. U18 and U22 you need to exchange, but again be carefull. panzer Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Mate , you better let professionals to localize the defective parts , this is not like a quick cooking guide .Different defective components can lead to the same behavior .And it's always a reason why they got broken , replacing them again and again, without knowing the cause , will take you nowhere .

Dunno how they solved it on DKS3 but on DKS2 the main chips driving out the motors liked to burn in some unpleasant conditions. if it works but with lot of vibration and noise - one phase from 4 could be down then i would agree with speakers before - mosfet indeed need to identify which one Wallie - do you have schematics for this board ?

Guys...you have to learn more electronics to advise U19 (not U18) and U22 are motor drivers (integrated circuits) responsible for expo plane motor. power mosfets lifting the output to the right power are marked T50 to T53 and are located in the top middle part of the board below J18 connector. See pages 54-55 for schematics - and further for some diagnostics. having one good board now it's easy to check how it behaves in good state - and how will behave bad one after connection. not mentioning that oscilloscope would be the best for diagnosis since step motor is driven by sequence of the pulses. there will be a problem to see it working with the voltmeter unless you change down the frequency...dramatically
