Ms01 4.2 Network And System Name Query

Hello,

 

I would please like some help regarding my setup.

 

I keep getting "MS 01 Cannot find System Name" error, my MS01 Server is online and networked during the install attempt.

 

I am missing the MS01 manual ( PP3-A1060E ) and MS01 ( PP3-ED875A ) making me miss some obvious step I guess.

 

 

Setup:

LP5700 Firewire (PC Firewire - 192.168.0.10, Printer Firewire - 192.168.0.1)

"FE-FRONTEND", 32bit win7, static IP *0.7

"FMPC", 32bit win7, static IP *0.6

blank gateway, DNS, default win7 settings.

 

"FE-FRONTEND" is running MS01 4.2 Server. (I entered MS 01 System Name FMPC on installation)

Installed Firewire / Vdentry and Firewire is pinging the machine OK.

Firewalls disabled, FE-FRONTEND and FMPC can ping each OK. IP's, names resolve properly.

Tried to install the "Printer" option from MS01 install, and entering MS 01 System Name FE-FRONTEND fails.

 

I have actually tried many different names and installations with no luck . Different computers, networks and switches etc etc.

 

Any assistance narrowing down my cause would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

First of all make sure to make the Imaging system computer and you can name it PIC, after that make the FMPC(name it LPC1) and connect via network and when ask for name use PIC.

My own network setup was faulty it seems.

Try to change the MS01 Server computer name to FEII-FRONTEND. FMPC/LPC (the computer with the firewire board) can have any name but you have to tell it to MS01 Server when you are installing it. 

 

Also you need to make sure MS01 Server and FMPC/LPC see each other in windows network.

hi All , I have the exact same problem but no solution. Both computer can see each other, I can access both by name (\\FMPC) but can't complete the MS01 Printer installation because it didnt see the FE-FRONTEND pc

Finaly got it by using the Windows Homegroup network assistant that generate a password to join the group and tadam everything work !
