Our DKS 1710 stops printing in the middle of a job.  THe screen looks fine and it sounds fine but it just stops printing.

The Stop button does not work.  You click it and it says "Quick Stop" but that's it.

When we exit the DKS software, the box in the middle of the windows desktop never goes away.

When I start task manager and try to terminate the DKSscan.exe and DKSPrint.exe processes, the DKSscan.exe will terminate, but the DKSPrint.exe (the larger one) will not terminate.

When I log off (takes about two minutes) and log back on, the machine sounds OK and the software seems to start OK, but when the DKS software window appears, the right side (tank diagram, replenishment levels) is sometimes not there (blank gray area).

I have to shut down the computer, shut down the DKS, wait a minute and turn it back on.  Then it will print again.

This used to happen once a year but now it happens several times a week and the blank right side condition just started recently.

I've noticed that the problem seems to occur when I copy a job (3-4GB) to the DKS computer (spoolin1), but it also happens intermittently.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ken

Is possible that if you try to print a too much large file you get this problem.

Try to identify the file or files, if they're too big resize them, try to confirm too

that the ICC is standard (sRGB or Adobe) and all the names of the files

don't have any strange symbol. In DKS 1510 if the name had one point "."

the software crashed.

Hi Studio01,

Thanks for the reply.  The files are all named the same with no unusual characters.  The ICC is standard and they're all the same size.

I don't think this is the problem but I'll definitely think about it.  Thanks very much for reading and replying.

Take care,

Ken

If you have a working backup of DKS folder you can try.

Rename actual DKS folder and place the backup in C:

Try it and if that is not working then it's not a software

problem, perhaps hardware.

Hi fsimao222,

Thanks for reading and replying.  When you say, "In the stock", what were you referring to?

Take care,

it is referring to the archive - all files you have printed are stored in the cataloque.

clear history of your printouts, trash the archive - then it should be good.

there is also another reason - XP system is storing drivers and ID's of every pendrive and card type you have put in - if you have worked with customer's eqpt you could have sevveral dozen of it defined - and system is going crazy.

YOu need to log as administrator and clear the "pendrive list". It was discussed here but I can't find where and what was the procedure.

dooing this once per year should prevent you to get any stupid issues from the system side.

DKS 17xx series have this issue with too much drives installed on your windows xp

embedded, and you'll have to clear that list.

I recommend using USBoblivion, is a free software that do that job fast and easy.

But the symptom when you have too much drives installed is that you cannot install more

drives, system don't detect them, but you can print, this was one of my first issues

in my DKS 1750.
