All of a sudden, my Noritsu 3501 is making red herringbone patterns on prints. The test prints first thing this morning were perfect. Now almost all prints have the pattern. I'm hoping it's the green AOM and nothing more serious. Any ideas?

Which noise do you have - Red or Magenta? Which laser type do you have ? Can see it in software version check ( laser line ) . If it is Magenta then may be faulty AOM driver. Of course can be some other fault.

Sorry for the delayed response. This happened the afternoon before I was scheduled to leave on a 5 day holiday. I shut down the machine and decided to deal with it when I got back. I turned off my machine at the breaker while I was gone, and when I turned it back on today, it worked fine. I've attached a photo of the pattern.

The Noritsu tech came by today and said that he thought the problem would come back.

I have just sent to you in private message the way how to determine the condition of your green laser.

Please perform and necessary actions and report in e-mail to me.

Well, so far two days and no more problems. I'm crossing my fingers that it stays this way for awhile. I'm also taking the time to check out my options for replacing the green laser. Thanks to Eugene for all his help and advice. Anyone else in the US replace a laser? Any tips?

Just thought I would update my machine problems.

So after "resetting" the machine by leaving it off for a few days over the New Year (including turning off the breaker), it has worked perfectly (3 months) until this weekend where it would only print jagged cyan lines on the paper. No image, just cyan lines. I turned it off on Saturday and left it off until today (Monday). Today, it's working perfectly again, but I'm sure I'm living on borrowed time.

I called Noritsu and they suggested sending someone out to look at it. I'm wondering if the Tech can check out anything if the machine is performing correctly. Is there a test to see if the laser is "weak" or due to fail? Could this be a problem with the driver board?
