Backround In Studio With Large Format Printer

Has anyone made backrounds for studio photos with those large format printers that do over 2,5 meters wide prints in Decotex or some other matte fabric..?

 

Is this material 190g/m2 too light to roll on tube..?

Where are you located ??  I think the Decotex would be too light, but yes, you could probably put it on a roller.

 

Some companies sell things like that as "Computer Printed".  Usually on vinyl or other "printable" media.

We've had good luck using them as "flooring", but they only last a couple of weeks.  quite expensive.

Trying to use them as backgrounds, some are VERY bad depending on the angle of your lighting and the material it's printed on.

 

We've had very good luck with a different company that uses "sweatshirt" material and they sublimate YOUR image as a background with NO glare and "no" wrinkles, but good luck with the wrinkles....

Same for a rubber backed floor mat for a "wood" floor look, but that sucker picks up lint like a giant lint magnet.  I'm thinking of just putting up the money for an actual laminate wood floor.

 

Good luck in your search, and keep us posted on how the decotex works out for you.  I wouldn't do it though unless they're solid colors. 

I know a studio guy that prints them on his Epson 9900 printer for doing baby / newborn shots and he likes it because he can just print up new ones cheaply if they get old/worn/out of style.
