Hello. I have a Dks 3 and I hear a strange crackling sound the last few days from the circulation pumps. I removed the cover and noticed that all of the pumps get stuck for a moment simultaneously while turning. I tried to turn the pumps from the SU separetely, all pumps turn normally but also all of them make these pauses a few times while turning.

I think I had faced the same problem a few years ago on my previous dks 2 and it was a black parallelogram part from the board that controls the pumps, there were many of this same kind parts in a row and one of them was faulty. Am I correct? Is it the same problem or its something else? Thanks

On original DKS3 all 3 water pumps are connected in serial connection, and when at some point all 3 water pumps are activated this cause a problem because there is only one tube to receive the water for all 3 pumps !!!

I connected each water pump separately with 2 additional tubes (I connected incoming tube to first water pump), which are cut at 45 degrees angle on other end and immersed into water tank from outside through opening for water tank filling, or you can even drill the hole near water tank opening on left side.

In that way, each water pump has separate tube for taking the water. I done that on one DKS3 which I was servicing, because for me it was more logical way to do it and afterwards, I done this modification on all of DKS3 which I service.

Interestingly, KIS done same thing on refurbished machines the were selling (I saw two modified from factory like that), but there was no TIE for technicians about that, and they drilled a holes for this additional two tubes on the left side off the water tank filling hole ?

Off course if you like, you can put a filter before each pump ?

First of all thank all of you for the replies.

erwannsmall: I don't see any picture at your post

pskaro : take a look at this video

dks 1610 pump problem video

the pumps get stuck one after another so I don't think that all of the pumps are broken, it's something else. Also I don't think that connecting water pumps separately will help solving my problem, because the same thing happens if I activate the chemical pumps. Last time I had a similar problem with my dks 1550 my kis service changed a board that had a defective black celduc component (on the right of the 1550). Now I find the similar board of the 1610 on the back below the pc. I think the the defective component is one of these celduc:

Do you think I'm correct or not? What else could it be?

Thank you

I watch the video and it is exactly the problem which I described. Upper big bellows pumps are water replenishment  pumps and when they are activated at a same time (like on the video), they are all taking the water from only one small diameter tube and this is the problem.

To be sure, tick only one water pump in S.U. and try (not all 3 at same time, select only one water pump and deselect all other). If each pump is then working normally (without stopping and noise) when only one is selected at a time, then as I stated the problem is because they are connected in serial connection with only one tube as input water tube for all 3 pumps and this is making the pressure for all pumps.

If there was a problem with PCB (pump SSR), some pump would work all the time, or some pump would not work at all, and there is separate SSR (solid state relay) for each pump, soo...

By the way, your image from spare parts list is from circulation pump and you have a problem with replenishment pumps ;)

Thanks again for your replies.

Sorry I made an error when I said circulation pumps, I meant replenishment pumps.

Pskaro I activated each water pump one by one and the same problem happens. I then activated the stabiliser replenishment pump and it worked normally. So it appears the problem is on water pumps. I will try your solution and see what happens.

Actually the problem are joints which interconnect all 3 pumps, they are reducing tube diameter even more. You can first try to connect directly first water pump with existing incoming tube, disconnect joints and connect it directly, maybe also your water filter is clogged, you can remove it (but then it would be better to install new tube line from water to pump directly, then interconnect that section where filter was with a joint), or put a new filter.

Replace  part no. N060376662   REPRISE FILTER  ( replace old part no.  N060225192 ) will solve your problem

Maybe, that would help, but why then KIS done the modification which I described on 2 refurbished DKS3 delivered from the factory that I installed, too bad that I didn't take a picture off that new tubbing done :(

Hi Sibi,

Sure looks like a clogged water filter to me.  I'd disconnect the water line from the pump and see if that stops the clicking.  If so, you've got a clogged water filter.

My water pumps clicked intermittently.  I did what Perica suggests with the additional tubes and that alleviated all of my water pump clicking.  I realize that is not what you're experiencing though.  You seem to have a complete occlusion of your water line that is causing the pumps to strain due to their inability to draw water.  The skipping of the plastic gear in the pump (clicking) is the built-in strain relief mechanism that keeps the pump motor from burning out.

I have no experience with the celduc modules you mention, but I have a lot of experience with the type of clicking you show in your video and it has always been clogged filters for me.

Good Luck,

Ken

Thank you KenTen. I've ordered a new filter a few days ago and I'm waiting for it, I checked my filter and it seems clogged. If this doesn't work I'll try pskaro's solution.

Finally problem solved. It was the filter, I changed it and the pumps work normally :)

Nice that you were able to solve it in easy way, but I still do not like the solution to have only one filter in front off 3 water pumps connected in parallel, on DKS2 each water pump have separate filter and then the stress on the pump is much less then with this DKS3 solution, and the water input tube was only one as in DKS3, but that did not made an issue, probably the new filter version is less dense then the old one and that made a difference ;)
