Hello again. I'm experiencing a problem with the DKS3 sharpness: prints are soft. If I compare them with my thermal printer Kodak 305 the difference is huge. Is there a way to increase the sharpness easily? I studied the manual but It seemed a complicated procedure, can I do it by myself? I also tried playing with Sources.cst but if I increase sharpness I get black spots in my photos.

Thanks

Print one picture, turn lens ring little right or left and print again... that can help, but in bigger photos you have to adjust those little screwes near that ring to get sharpnes wright in corners, make notes what you are doing that you can go back, you need manual to do that..

Also if you adjust lens that will make white borders wrong, then SU lens adjustment has to be done or manually play with "ini/cst" files, pain in ass..

I have done it hunders of time, but you cant get same result that thermal printer does, print head is close to paper vs 60cm of explosure plain..

After KIS Imager, AKS 1000, DKS 750, DKS 1510, DKS 1710 and now Epson D3000 very happy..=)

Time consuming process, but there is no other way, piezzo test would also help a little bit.

Also, the lenses on DKS2 were better quality, Rodenstock, I think ?

By Monday I will post a link to download few test images which I made a long time ago to help you with sharpness procedure, together with some technical info about it and KIS reference marking tables for easier tracking off the screw and lens ring adjustments;)

In the ZIP file (beside 3 sharpness test iamges for DKS2, but it should be OK for DKS3) there are also 2 PDF files, one explain the procedure, and in the other one are markes for tracking changes while doing mechanical adjustment off the angles screws or changes in up/down position off the lens, to be printed on regular A4 paper.
