Hello,

I know that Noitsu made the S-900/1700SA workstations to support S2/S3 Scanners to run as stand alone devices. My question is, can you build one of these workstations using the PCI card from a Noritsu 3300 machine?

I have an S3 and all the work components of 3300. Can you simply just create a PC using the LVDS PCI card and install the S900 software?

Thanks

Yes, you are right that you cannot use a S3 as a stand-alone scanner just using a software.
An image processing PCB  and a D-ICE PCB should have part in stand alone mode and you will have to create a CS (control station) from the scratch.
So "the game is not worth the candle".
I recommend to buy HS1800 scanner if you have enough money for it or use LS1100 as a stand alone unit.

The simple answer is No.

The S-900/1700SA workstations use hardware to do the processing, where as the QSS-3300 uses software to do the processing. So the software for S-900/1700SA will be not work with 3300 PCI card.

The CS-1 workstation can be changed into a S-900/1700SA by loading different software.

In theory the QSS-3300 PCI interface card could be used to run a S2/S3 standalone scanner, but the trouble is Noritsu never wrote any software to make this possible. They created the LS-600/1100 and HS-1800 scanners instead.

S-900/1700SA software should work on other QSS33 minilabs ( QSS3301, QSS3302, QSS3311, QSS3312 ) . These minilabs have the same hardware as CS-1.

CS-1 was used with QSS32xx ( not SD models ) , QSS3412SA , QSS34PRO ( might be there missing Digital ICE pcb ) .
