JohanChandra80 Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 (edited) Hi... I don't know if anyone ask this before... is there any difference between fe and ms software in color, contrast or anything? Edited February 10, 2018 by JohanChandra80
yustas Posted February 10, 2018 Report Posted February 10, 2018 (edited) Only UI (user interface) and way of control of the whole process of printing is different. No difference between FE and MS software in color or contrast at all. I recommend paying attention to the condition of chemicals if you want to have a stable quality of the prints. JohanChandra80 Posted February 11, 2018 Author Report Posted February 11, 2018 Yustas...thank you for your answer. How can i control thechemical condition? And ms software faster and more stable than fe?
yustas Posted February 12, 2018 Report Posted February 12, 2018 1. Although MS software was released before FE software, MS 01 Basic software is not worse than FE Basic software. Currently, Fujifilm has released the ultimate version of MS01 named as MS01 ver.10.0.0.12678 and MS01R ver.10.0.0.12683. (I do not have it so far)... So as you can see Fujifilm supports its development and seems has forgotten about FE. 2. How to control the chemicals? Hm... Some customers still use control strips and make the weekly reading of them on colorimeters. I recommend applying to your local chemicals distributor and ask them about their way of control of the chemicals they sell. Each manufacturer has its own control system. What you can do: 1. In my company (a long time ago) we had a rule - replacement of all chemicals (in working tanks only, of course) once a year with a complete cleaning of all tanks. Yes, maybe it was just waste of money but we had the best quality of prints in the city. 2. Constantly check the condition of replenishing pumps and their output volume. It must correspond to the amount given by chemicals manufacturer. Sometimes the pump cannot output the required volume of fresh chemicals and working chemicals fade. It makes the quality of pictures worse and worse. And clients run and run away from you. And all due to a small broken broken pump forgot in the dark. 3. Check all the hoses from replenishing pumps to the replenish tanks. Very often it can be bent or clogged by the dried debris of chemicals and it can be a cause of poor replenishment. 4. Keep an eye on circulation in each tank. It is important. So control the condition of all circulation pumps. Same problem with these pumps like with replenishing pumps exist. 5. Be very careful when you remove the BF rack from the tank for any reason. If the chemicals from Bleach-Fix tank (2nd) will come into CD tank (1st) - Color Developer will be killed. Use the special protective covers to cover the CD tank during BF rack inspection. 6. Try to use the chemicals of one manufacturer in one lab. They have been developed as one chain and if to "marry" two or three different chemicals of three different manufacturers in one lab - it will be difficult to have a good result at the end.
JohanChandra80 Posted February 13, 2018 Author Report Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) So ms soft is older than fe? And what is the difference between ms older version vs latest v10? Which pc monitor resolution does ms use? 1024x768 or 800x600? Edited February 13, 2018 by JohanChandra80
Minilab service Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 No, FE software is older. First was released FDIA software. Latter was released FE ( at the beginning for USA ) and after many years latter was released MS. MS software is based on FDIA. For example hotfolder MS13 has C8 folder ( the same folder was on C8 - hotfolder for FDIA ) , MS12 is based on C2 and etc. FE software designed slightly different. Anyway some FE elements are used on MS software ( on scanner and FMPC ) . On MS01 ( versions 2.1, 2.5.5, 3.0, 3.1, 4.0, 4.2 ) monitor resolution 1024 x 768. One my customer had installed FE software. He build new computers and there installed MS software. On both computers where the same adjustments. He told that FE software gave him better prints. Of course it can be just his thoughts.
yustas Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 Strange... :-) I always thought that FE is newer because in some cases it is more convenient for use. For example, an operator can send the order partially to print, by six pictures. MS cannot do it, so if you have an order for example 200 prints, you will have to wait when a lab finish it. Anyway, it is really good to know, that this forum always gives me new pieces of knowledge. We had MS and FE installed in our labs. There was no difference in pictures' quality.
Ignatius Posted February 13, 2018 Report Posted February 13, 2018 The main difference between the versions is that the MS software caters for for a wider range of output devices. The rest of the workflow is just as archaic as FE. Also really confusing for the customer but ok for tech's and technical staff instore. Orders on MS can be stop and order midway but you have to know the procedure ... and remember it for when you need it.
JohanChandra80 Posted February 19, 2018 Author Report Posted February 19, 2018 Thank you for all the answer One last question, this maybe out of the topic. But between older printer like 340 and the new one like 550 and 5500R, is it any different color quality or is it just the same?
Minilab service Posted February 19, 2018 Report Posted February 19, 2018 All your mentioned printers are different. 5500R has bigger print resolution than 550 or 340. 550 and 5500R can print bigger size if compare with 340. On 550 and 5500R can print on 305 mm width paper. Print length 457 mm ( standard ) , 640 mm ( with L1 option ) or 914 mm ( with L2 option ) .
yustas Posted February 19, 2018 Report Posted February 19, 2018 Please visit our website https://www.minilablaser.com/ and find the page SPECIFICATIONS. There you will find brochures with all data for all labs on the market. I spent much time doing it...
