Only on QSS29xx DLS models scanner is connected separately ( directly to computer ) . These scanners ( model SI-1080 or SI-1080-II ) can be used stand alone.

On standard QSS29xx scanner is not separate unit, so can use it only with minillab. It is possible to disconnect heaters, instead temperature sensors connect resistors and put jumpers instead level sensors. Then on processor settings add temperatures, which you see when connected resistors and can to scan.

It is not comfortable instead scanner use big minilab. It will take very big space. I think better to sell minilab, or parts ( MLVA, color wheel, image processing section boards and other ) and buy scanner, which can use stand alone. Many Konica minilabs finished life, but scanners still can work. They are quite good,  cheap and can be used stand alone. Original workstation works on Windows 2000, or Windows XP, but all can be installed on W7, or W10.
