Sp2000_ppi
We are having issues with the sharpness on most higher resolution scanning. When scanning 135 film at 102c, sharpness is great. When we scan same film at 6x9 is loses sharpness and when scanning at 10x15, most detail is loss no matter if we adjust sharpness to High 1,2 or
Minilab service
Are you sure, that film is the same? Usually 6 x 9 format has 120 film ( not 135 ) . You are scanning on the same film carrier? Which masks used to scan films? Which print size selected, when you scanning?
Sp2000_ppi
Ah maybe my phrasing is confusing. We use the auto carrier for 135 format. When we scan 135 at the 102c (4x6) print size, the images are sharp as they should be. When we scan the same 135 format film at a larger print size such as 6x9 or 10x15, the images soften drastically. The same goes for scanning 120 film square format on the manual carrier. Typically, the 5x5 print size for square frames produce sharp images. When we use 10x10 print size for the same format and film, the images soften. Sometimes detail that is in the 5x5 scans is lost in the 10x10 scans. I hope this explanation helps.
Sp2000_ppi
The first image attached should be sharp and scanned at 4x6 print size. The second is soft and scanned at 10x15 print size. The larger image loses significant detail in the ring if you zoom in. i would like to understand why this happening. Mikko Kankainen
Mine does the same. You need to add sharpness when scanning larger files from A1 scanning computer. Or at least that what I do.

Mikko Kankainen
Yes I use high 1 for bigger scans.
Sp2000_ppi
We do the same but it doesn’t seem to retain the same sharpness as the smaller scans. Is there any other settings you have in place in setup and maintenance?
Mikko Kankainen
Not that I can think of. I use nowadays MS01 and scan images to tiff and then convent them to jpg and do another sharpening at this stage.
Sp2000_ppi
We use the same MS01 but I have not seen the tiff option. So strange
Minilab service
If you use MS01 then scanned files on server automatically stored in .tiff format . Later on software can convert into other format and decrease size ( base ) . Sharpness depends on software focus adjustments. There two menu to do it. Also sharpness depends on scanning resolution. To get bigger resolution used micro-movements ( to make pixel interrelation ) . Resolution can change on software. Also there can correct micro-movement. Ask your software supplier and they explain how to adjust everything.
Sp2000_ppi
I believe we need to calibrate focus on the scanner using a jig chart. Saw one eBay for a lot of money. Hopefully we can find one cheaper.
