Code 1F80 & 1525 on EPSON D700

Akkie

Recommended Posts

I am having trouble with my Epson SL-D700 printer.

When I tried to discharge ink to replace the pump unit of a D700 I purchased used, an error number 1525 (Roll motor slacking error) and an ink cartridge error were displayed.
We checked the condition of the roll motor and found no physical damage.

After a lot of trial and error, when I casually opened and closed the ink cover door, error number 1525 (VHV fuse blowout error) was displayed and all LED indicator lights kept glowing.

The connections between the ink cartridge holder and the FFC connector on the main board are correct. The connection of each connector on the main board is also confirmed to be in correct condition.
The electrolytic capacitors on each board are not deformed.

Any ideas to get out of this situation?

1525 - roll motor slacking error. Slack Sensor cannot detect a slack when slacking the roll paper during PF cooperative normal rotation. It can cause slack sensor unit failure, sensor failure, sensor cable is damaged, or main board failure.
Check the connection between the slack sensor and main board ( connector CN202). Run maintenance utility and carry out “Sensor Check” to check if the slack sensor functions normally.
If sensor is faulty replace slack sensor unit. If faulty main board replace it.

1F80 - VHV fuse blowout error (42V system) . The fuse of the main board has blown. Check the connection between the left ink cartridge holder and
the Main Board if there is any loose or slant connection, or ripped terminals or the breaking of the FFC (CN401). Check the connection between the Right Ink Cartridge Holder and the main board if there is any loose or slant connection, or ripped terminals or the breaking of the FFC (CN400). Run maintenance utility and reset IES (Ink End Sensor) flag . Might be faulty connectors, flat cables, ink cartridge holders, or main board (F or fuse on it ) .

Thank you for your information.

All the FFC and other connectors you point out were found to be in the correct state of connection.
I have checked all the actions described in the service manual except for replacing the main board.

The maintenance utility does not seem to have the function to check the slack sensor.

F11 is smd fuse CCP2E10 ( CCP2E10TE CCP2E10TTE ) - 72 V , rated curent 0.4A ( 400 mA ) , fusing current 1 A , length 3.2 mm, width 2.5 mm . Can use some other model with similar parameters.

Yes, before replacement check resistance between fuse output ( where written 400mA ) and ground ( on multimeter select diode resistance testing mode ) . If resistance low - disconnect board connectors and test after that. If resistance still low then it is some problem on the board. Need replace board with working. If after disconnecting resistance will be normal then problem in other printer part. One by one connect back connectors and find when resistance becomes low.

Thank you for your detailed information.

I checked the value between the secondary side of the fuse and ground while connecting the connectors one by one. In all combinations, the diode tester showed overflow.
I have ordered a fuse of the same type and will replace it and check the operation when it arrives here.

On your screenshot error history. No problem, if error is there. You shouldn't have current errors.

If you replaced fuse, voltage is after it, but still have errors then board is not working. Need repair it, or buy new board. Old Epson part number 2163353, new part number 2186769 .

I got another used D700 printer and when I performed an ink discharge to replace the pump unit, the same error occurred and it stopped accepting any operations. This time fuse F11 is not blown.

Both printers have fatal errors during ink discharge. Both printers show an ink cartridge error and the management tool shows a series of communication errors.

The first D700 printer encountered an error three seconds after executing the ink discharge operation.

The second D700 printer performed the discharge operation but did not respond at all, so the error occurred the moment I unplugged the USB cable in the middle of the operation.

So, we think that the ink cartridge error and the communication error may have been caused by an incomplete discharge operation inside the printer. If this hypothesis is correct, I think we can recover if we can reset the status of the discharge.
I also wondered if I could re-write the firmware as part of that, but a buffer error prevented that.

By the way, I am waiting for the main board to arrive from the ebay seller for the first printer I consulted earlier.

What is service software version and driver version?
Might be you do not know how to use service software correctly and that is the reason why you have communication errors. Ask service software provider how to use it correctly.

Check board power supplers. Might be it is missing and that is the reason why computer doesn't see printer. Board firmware can write using service software ( if software see printer ) . First can try connect using SL-D700 service sofware. If no communication - can try use Fuji DX-100 service software. The last possibility - reprogram board memory using programmer.

SL-D700 Service Program version  1.1.2

Printer Driver version 3.9.0

I don't think there is anything wrong with the power supply, as the cleaning and other operations were working correctly right up until just before the error mentioned in this topic occurred.

The attached image shows the screen display that occurred during the firmware writing process.

DX100 Service program( version 1.7.0) could not  write firmware too.

I just replaced the mainboard today and the same error symptoms continue.

SL-D700 Service Program version  1.1.2 is very old. Use newer version ( 1.6.0 ) . You used  SL-D700 firmware update file ( CB424I8 ) . Might be something doesn't work, when upgrade file is new and service software is old.

If really can't write new upgrade file then can use some other SL-D700 files with firmware ( CB415I1 , CB427H4 , CB430H1 ) .

Try update firmware without service software. Use .bat file, which should be with firmware file.

DX-100 service program can try to use only if SL-D700 Service Program can't access printer at all. Then nothing to loose.
