Pat Heuvel
Gday, My DX100 won't reliably load paper. When it does, it prints beautifully. I start by removing the roll completely, turning the machine off, then turning the machine on, loading the paper so that the blue light comes on, then fit the waste box. The fans spin up, it sounds like the printer is drawing in the paper up to several stutter-like sounds, then all goes quiet for a few seconds. The error indicator then comes on and that's it. Looking under the top cover there is no stray paper that I can find, same after opening the back cover. I do notice about 1cm of the end of the paper reel is visible. Refitting the waste box at this point usually cycles around to the start of this error scenario! From the situation above I have also tried opening the roll tray, then rolling the paper back a few cm. Then refit the waste box. The paper may load, but usually it goes to the error indication. I have also tried simply removing then replacing the waste box. I have also tried trimming the leading edge of the paper. I am wondering if this is a failure of a mechanism that detects whether or not the paper is loaded? Is there anything I can check to work out where the problem may be? Thanks, Pat
Minilab service
Printer has paper sensors. They see, where paper is and where not. Sensor status can see on service software ( input check menu ) . Look error code. Then you can see, what cause it. If you hear stutter-like sounds guess here is some mechanical problem. Might be broken gear teeth, or something like that. Similar sound makes paper cutter, but then sound should be only once. Remove paper, run printer service software, go to output check menu and one by one run motors. Maybe then can find what makes clicking sound.
hivanov
@Pat Heuvel Try to push and hold rear cover toward the front of the printer while loading the paper until it is done. Sometime rear covers get loose and can't apply necessary pressure. Pat Heuvel
Pat Heuvel
When I pushed the rear cover, it loaded and became ready! Thanks very much! I'll have a look on the service software a bit later. The stuttering sound reminds me of other printers incrementally moving the paper to line up with the sensors. I just checked and I don't have any software that can do this? I only have the Printer Maintenance Tool. Thanks all! That is correct, the stuttering sound on these is normal, it is just slowly moving the paper bit by bit until it reaches the paper sensor.
