Noritsu Scanner Sensitivity Check

Recommended Posts

LED power is good. All gain values still 0. Maximum is 7.

Uniformity is not ideal, but acceptable. Ideally all lines would be straight. It is very rare.  IR is perfect. Others - acceptable. Look when film carrier lens, or film carrier removed. Then film carrier will not effect uniformity.

Look on bigger zoom ( magnification 1.34 ) . Then need more LED light, or bigger gain.

For jcallaghanphoto information...

Unless you are buying a NEW HS-1800 from a supplier's old stock, the latest model name of HS-1800 is now called the "S-1800" scanner.. with S-1800 written on scanner name plate.

Note... S-1800 is at least 99% identical with ex-HS-1800 I know so far.

The 1% difference is label change from HS-1800 to S-1800!

Would you say this scanners light source (image attached) is in good condition?

Yes, it looks good, as Minilab service has said the uniformity is not perfect, but it is not bad either (rarely is it perfect on an HS-1800).

If you set the shading to on you should get perfectly straight lines (assuming the scanner calibration has been done).
