Hello everyone.

i have a fuji fp 232b film processing machine. it was delivered to me after being serviced and tested with water. after receiving the machine, i never turned it on. the machine sat unused for 3-4 months. a few days ago, i wanted to test it with water before adding chemicals. unfortunately, it's giving an E700 error. looking at the error code, i saw that the problem is related to temperature. so, could you help me with this issue?

Take a thermometer (an aquarium thermometer will do) and measure the temperature of N1 and N2 tanks.

Compare it with the settings.

Use the installation instructions, which clearly indicate all recommended temperatures.

Usually, if the heater is working properly (touch it) -> the problem is a lack of circulation of chemicals in the chemical tank.

Check the pump (the first rotating unit). Sometimes it can become clogged with chemical waste and stop working.

If you do not have manuals for FP232B, you can find them here

What is circulation pump type - old black circulation pump ( all circulation pumps in one unit ) , or new type ( mounted separatelly ) ? Remove filter and look do you see swirl in the chemicals. If circultion doesn't work area beside heater might be overheated. It is typical fault on old type pump, but on new type it might be also.

To N1 and N2 heater connect multimeter. There is a.c. voltage. When tank reaches working temperature voltage this vo;tage should OFF. if temperature reached, but you see temperature there then can be faulty solid state relays ( SSR ) .

Your situation is simple.
The error indicates that the temperature in tanks N1 and N2 is abnormal.
It is important to understand whether your solution is hot or cold.
Hot:
Remove the filter, dip your finger into the solution, and feel the temperature.
If it is hot, then there is no circulation. Work in this direction: pull out the rack, visually inspect the tanks. Perhaps the hole at the bottom of the tank is clogged with something. Check the pump and blow out all the hoses.
Cold:
If the solution is cold, then you have a problem with the heater. They are located on the side of the machine, accessible after removing the side cover.
It is either burned out or turned off.
Check them for resistance and the SSR relay, which is responsible for turning them on.
As far as I remember, N2 does not have its own heater and gets its temperature from the heating of N1 and N3 through the side walls.

By the way:
The latest versions of the Fujifilm Film FP232B processor have a single stand-alone Iwaki circulation pump for the N3 tank. All other tanks are circulated by small black pumps connected to a single long block, where the pump on N3 has plugs.
It would be a good idea to replace all the original pumps with Iwaki pumps, but this would require Iwaki pumps (small tanks need small pumps, such as the MD10, which has a capacity of ~11-12 l/min, and the N1 tank needs a pump with a capacity of about 20 l/min), time, and certain skills.
We did this many years ago, and I think the lab is still working well...

Older FP232B has one circulation pump with 7 sections. New FP232B has 7 separate repenishment pumps. If there old type pump unit and one separate pump then here is older type film processor. Probably one element stopped to work and someone added new type circulation pump. I saw single pumps connected to various tanks.

It is typical fault, that one element stopps to work. Elements have magnets. Pump motor rotates other magnet, which is separatelly. When element magnet becomes weak, or element has some mechanical problem then it stopps to rotate and circulation is missing, or it is weak.

If I remember well separate pumps are 100V Iwaki MD10 ( N1 and N3 ) and MD6 ( other tanks ) . Can use similar 100V pumps ( 11/12 L/min and 8/9 L/min ) .

FP232B has three heaters. First is for N1 tank, second for N2/N3 and third for STB . Inside heater is temperature sensor. If circulation is missing, or it is bad then heater overheats sensor and you see incorrect temperature. If circulation is good, but temperature is too high then can be faulty SSR. If temperature is low, but you see error then can be faulty temperature sensor ( it is inside heater ) .

Leave your fingers outside of processing chemistry, please

Thank you all very much for your answers. i conveyed what you wrote to the person responsible for maintenance. he considered your comments to be “actions to be taken by users” and said, “we'll handle it in technician mode; there's no other way.”

actually, the photos i shared were screenshots from the video. if i can, i will try to upload the video here. maybe it will be helpful for you too.

You have error E905. That means your setting data are incorrect. You need to set them. Might be it will be enough. Setting limits are following :
Setting Temperatures: N1 to N4: 30 to 40˚C , Dryer: 40 to 70˚C
Replenishment Rates: 1.0 to 99.0 ml
Pump Output: 10 to 99 ml
Evaporation Rate: 0.0 to 50.0 ml
Water Replenishment Rate: 0 to 300
IX240 replenishment Factor: 40 to 200

E700, E701, E702, E706 means working tank temperatures are out of range. First check temperature settings. When they correct these errors might disapper. If not - do what I wrote on previous message.

E002, E003, E004, E005, E006 means replenishment tanks are empty. Might be replenishment tanks really are empty, or something doesn't work in this circuit.

i will do it as you wrote here, right?

update:

the person who maintains the device came the other day, and the problem that appeared during the procedures is currently error e608. you can see the situation in the photos and videos i will upload.

also, as you'll hear in the video, at some point there's a sound that i can't make sense of.

E608 means solution heater overheated. On some solution heater safety thermostat is activated. On your video one safety thermostat is removed.

Heaters safety thermostat activates when heater works, but circulation is bad. On your viideo on few tanks do not see circulation. Probably few circulation pump elements do not work.

Not sure where from is noise. Probably noise causes circulation pump. You need disassemble circulaton pump and clean all pump elements. If still will not work then need remove broken element. Instead of it you can use standard pumps, which used on newer FP-232B. If I remember well separate pumps are 100V Iwaki MD10 ( N1 and N3 ) and MD6 ( other tanks ) . Can use similar 100V pumps ( N1 and N3 11-12 L/min and 8-9 L/min other tanks ) .

If want you can remove circulation pump unit and on film processor mount separate circulation pumps ( Iwaki, or some others ) . Long time ago it was possible to buy elements separatelly. Now do not see offers to buy them. Original circulation pump element can see on attachment.

yes, i removed the safety thermostat. more accurately, the person who performed the maintenance did so. i think they removed it to trick the device. also, the sound doesn't come at first, but after a while it comes from somewhere i don't know.
i will take it step by step. I'll check again tomorrow. is this problem difficult to solve? frankly, i m exhausted trying to get this device to work properly.

You have listen careffully where from is this clicking sound. Might be sound is from pump, but can be that clicking sound is from overheated heater. It can be when heater overheats and can't be cooled ( because circulation is missing, or it is weak ) . Try disconnect heaters. Then you can see still have sound, or not.
Do not connect heaters when circulation is weak. Otherwise they can be burned. First fix circulation in all tanks. Only then you can heat them.

alright. i will check it out based on what you said. by the way, i forgot to mention, both fans aren't working. is this issue unrelated to the heater?

the clicking sound seems to be coming from the circulation pump rather than the heater. i ll check everything today.

and finally, how do i disconnect heaters?

Heaters cooled inside. When circulation is good then heater is cooled properely. Do not see circulation in few tanks. Need to fix it. You have 5 circulation pumps. If I see well only few of them work well and see circulation in working tanks. You can see better, where have circulation.

I think sound comes from the circulation pump. When you move phone to this area sound is the biggest. Overheated heaters just "clicking" and you have some rotation sound. Your pump has 7 elements. One element is unused, so you can use it on some other position :

Iwaki made similar pump - model 4MD-10. There are 4 elements :

This pump is not standard and was made at special order. Standard pump is MD-10 where only one element, so it is only for one tank.

hi again.

unfortunately, the problem has not been resolved. As you can see in the video, after the machine has been running for a while, this noise comes from the motor or circulation pump. It then displays the e608 error. My friend disconnected the motor from the pump and checked it for any blockages, etc., but we saw that it was in perfect condition. What my friend is wondering is why this sound doesn't come immediately while working, but comes later.
