Hello and happy new year folks! I've been working on our new to us FP563FA over the past several months getting it up and running to replace our worn out FP562B. I have made major progress this year and am down to one last big issue that I am trying to over come.

The film sensor that detects the presence of film as it goes into the tanks has been malfunctioning. It's been throwing a E404 and a E402 error every so often. we are conducting our transportation tests and the test card has been throwing an error with the end detector which I am confident I can fix by replacing the switch above the dryer. But I'm at a loss for next steps on the front sensor. There is no option to calibrate it in any of the menus. And cleaning it doesn't do much good.

Any suggestions would be great! or if you have a replacement that is known to work that would be excellent too! This is the last piece of the puzzle for this machine!

With multimeter check board track resistance. Might be they are damaged. If they are disconnected - solder them.
If all well clean sensor. After that go into service mode. Then make sensor callibration. If can't calibrate - replace it.

PCB detector FMS - Fuji part number 812G03703A . 812G03703A consists of two boards - 113G03216 LEA33 and 113G03211 DTA33 . Fuji doesn't sell them separately, but might be can find used parts.

What error is being thrown when the leader card comes out?

I have a 563SC in my company that has a 363 CTL board in, so it throws Film Jam in Section 8 as it's processing too quickly. Assuming yours has the normal 563 board in?

Unfortunately we had to replace our film sensor recently after the above didn't work 😕

Ghosty, whats the difference between the two ctl33 boards? I'm not sure if ours is original or not. it sure felt like I was the first one to pull it out but not sure. We also have gotten the jam at section 8 error too even though the card made it through. our exit switch is bad and the previous owners bypassed it with a jumper. It only started throwing that error after removing the jumper. new exit sensor is in the mail.

I pulled the optical film sensor today and probed it and cleaned it. Aside from being kinda gross, it seemed like everything checked out. No broken traces. when I put it back it started throwing the e402 right film sensor error after a few minutes. my boss has a replacement coming but it would be nice to have a spare.

This is the first mini lab I have ever worked on so I am still learning. I'm only 23 after all.. I've nearly read the service manual cover to cover but it definitely is not a complete guide to everything. I got everything else ready to rock from the book though. The film sensor is the very last thing as far as I can see.

Hi,

I am running an FP363SC AL in a lab, and we are having E405 errors, and unable to run a calibration without getting an E423 error. After talking to several different parts/tech support people we have been unable to fix the issue, but I found this discussion and wanted to ask:

1) Can anyone confirm if the film sensor assemblies/boards are the same in the FP363 and the FP563?

2) Can anyone tell me where they could/would/have sourced the assembly, or the individual boards?

Thanks for any assistance. I have removed/cleaned/probed the boards.

E405 means upper limit of left film sensor is abnormal. E423 means upper limit of left film sensor calibration is abnormal.
The film sensor value exceeds the upper limit. It can cause abnormally calibrated film sensor, faulty film sensor, loose, broken or short-circuited harness between the film sensor and the CTL3/CTL4 connector, or faulty CTL33 circuit board.
Clean the film sensor and perform the film calibration, check harness and connectors, change sensor, or CTL33 .

On FP363 and the FP563 sensor unit is the same - PCB detector FMS, Fuji part number 812G03703A. 812G03703A can order from Fujifilm, or distributor in your area. Also can try to find used sensor - 812G03703A ( sensor unit ) , 113G03216 ( sensor LEA33 board ) and 113G03211 ( sensor DTA33 board ) .

Go to input check menu. Test sensor status when opened and closed. Also can test sensor output levels with multimeter. If sensor output levels are incorrect then need change sensor. If output levels are good, but on input check do not see it then faulty CTL33 board.

Visually there isn't, however when you first power on your processor it should say FP563FA on screen. If it says anything else it has the wrong board.

Sorry I missed this, been arms deep in chemistry so to say working on older 562s.

Kudos to you at 23 for working on these! I've been doing the same and at 27, I absolutely love it!
