Looking for workflow advice

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for workflow advice regarding our Noritsu 3502 and 3300 minilabs. We mainly print school portraits. The images are in JPG format, and color corrections are currently done using the printer's built-in software.

However, the computers inside the minilabs are quite slow compared to modern PCs, and it takes time to read and process the images (stored on a local NAS).

I'm considering switching to a workflow where we process and color-correct the images on a PC using software like Lightroom, and then use the minilabs purely as printers — similar to how I use my DNP DS620 at home, which seems to me to be faster and more efficient.

Is this kind of setup possible with these older Noritsu models?
How are others handling image processing and color correction, especially for portrait work?

Hi!

I think qss35 works with ezcontroller - so you can install it on any modern pc with windows 11, provided you have latest version.

Qss33 can operate in net order mode. It means you can connect it to pc with ezcontroller, just need additional software.

Ezcontroller is great and can be very fast on fast PC. Keep in mind the bottleneck is network speed. With ezcontroller you can get 10Gbit speed (i doubt your NAS has that fast NIC though) with reasonable price. 

I think 35 can operate without ezcontroller - just as a printer device if installed with a twain driver. Not sure about 33, i think it can't.

1. EZC will work with QSS3501, but the PLUS version.
2. To use the QSS33 or QSS35 series, you will need Noritsu NetOrder Printer Connection Software P/N Z811731-01

You have these options :
1. Ez controller on remote computer and NetOrder printer connection software on minilab computer. On remote computer can install optional modules ( the same which are for minilab ) .
2. QSS Printer Driver installed on remote computer. Then to print pictures can use any software. Need open file, make corrections, select print size and surface. Need do it manually, but some printing interfaces can do it automatically. One more option is to add printer few times with selected different settings ( for example 10x15g  printer, 10x15m printer, etc )
3. HotFolder. It is enough to drop file int folder ( for exact print size and surface ) . Then file will be printed automatically. Do not open file, or correct it. All will be done auromatically.
4. Noritsu Quick Access installed on external computer. Here is basic software to send edited pictures to minilab. On software can select printing options, select file and send it to print.
