codename123 Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 First post here. I have an opportunity to buy a Frontier SP 3000 for really cheap from a local lab that’s no longer in film business. The scanner doesn’t have any pc or anything, just the scanner alone. How difficult it is to get it up and running with software etc? I know it won’t be an overnight thing.
Minilab service Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Scanner computer is inside scanner. If to open front door you will see it. If scanner computer is missing then can build it. Can be used any older computer. Just need to know how to do it. Then need to install scanner software. To install scanner would be better to have scanner backup file ( file is archive with extension .001 ) . To receive scanned images need other computer ( server ) . Here can use any computer. There also need to install software. If need can help to install scanner and server. Can do it online.
codename123 Posted February 1 Author Report Posted February 1 Thank you for the response. So I checked today and it’s missing the PC. They told me they removed it, and it’s currently hooked up to the frontier 550 machine, which is still in use. I asked what was reason for disconnecting the scanner besides the fact film is dead here. She said it had an issue of sending information to the 550 machine.
Minilab service Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 Something incorrect there. If here was tethered printer ( printer connected through scanner ) then on scanner computer installed scanner software ( A1, S1, or MS11 ) . It is impossible using this software to connect printer. Need reinstall this computer software to convert it into FMPC ( install D20, S9, or MS01 printer ) . Ask if they still have scanner backup ( file extension .001 ) , or old HD content. You easy can built other computer and install stand alone scanner software.
